According to Coach he is looking at some good talent joining the team over the summer as I believe registration does not pick up until that time. Roster only at 31 now. Possibly 45 or more by KOC. The Celtics seem to have a so so schedule. Not too hard and not too easy. So, I'm thinking they will be able to make the playoffs this season. I think that the KOC at Dixie will be a good measuring stick as to how the Celtics will do.
I plan on coming out to check out the Celtics a few times this year. Specifically the game against North Florida Christian on September 20th since that is Vanguard's bye week

Is vanguard supposed to be good this year?
From what I have been hearing Vanguard is pretty loaded up and should have another deep run in them this year. Finally got a true QB this year in rising Sophomore to be Steve Curry. Trevonte Rucker and Leonard Manuel out at WR should make for big numbers for Curry this year and a stable of RBs. Fleming Island transfer Dewayne McBride should have a big year back their and the defense was very young last year so they're still pretty much intact
-
Trinity Catholic Also got Big time offensive lineman Miller Lewis in for next season via transfer from vanguard. Kid is massive with his share of Big D1 offers as well. Andrew Thomas is building up the foundation over there and should have the Celtics back up at an elite level very soon

Regional Finals
5A North Marion @ Trinity Christian
4A Dunnellon @ Raines
Do North Marion and Dunnellon have a viable chance?
North Marion has the athletes to keep it close with TC for awhile. Winning the game is likely not going to happen but I think they can make this a better game than a lot of people think..... Dunnellon on the other hand is tough to say. But think Raines rolls pretty handily against them

I Think North Marion Can Very Well Win That Game As Well. Nature Coast isn't That Great Either. They Got Very Lucky in beating a Down Baker County Team. If The Colts can go in their with the right gameplan and play like they did last week than I like their chances. North Marion has a really solid Football team

So, I guess, Hoover will be IMG's last game of the season. Is there some reason that visiting teams are not playing in IMG's stadium? That Manatee field is really pretty bad from what I can see of it.
Yeah they're hosting a big US Soccer World Cup Concacaf U-20 Qualifying tournament there over the next month. Preparation started last Saturday on the fields over there so they had to move the game to Manatee

This Game has indeed been cancelled. COF decided last week not to make the trip. Game was scheduled to be played at St Stephens Episcopal Saturday Afternoon at 1:00

Whatever happened to Chisholm and Curry? Did they get injured, leave the team, did not work out? I'm wondering why they would shift their top WR to QB unless he was thought to be better than those two? On video Rucker does not seem to be that good of a passer. Against top flight teams he may struggle unless he has one hell of a backfield.
Chisholm I believe they have moved him to the defensive side of the ball and Curry is still there. He has been getting a lot of reps in blowout games but as a Freshman he's still very inexperienced. By next fall he should really be ready to take over the QB position full time so they can move Rucker back to his primary position at WR. And the backfield is pretty deep as well. They got Senior Kimo Clarke that came over from Lake Weir that was Committed to Arkansas but recently backed off that pledge. Senior Glover Cook who just came back from injury a couple weeks ago and is Committed to Missouri and also have 2 very promising Sophomores in Tevin Williams and Mykel Randall that get a bulk of the carries as well. Mykels Brother Tyrell Randall is a Freshman RB that gets some time and is going to be really good too. All 5 RBs are really quick but those 2 Sophomores are already way beyond their years. Young team as well. The future definitely looks bright for some years ahead

The Knights just defeated probably the best Lake Weir team ever 49-14. Lake Weir is no longer your dad's Oldsmobile, as the saying used to go. They also took care of business with Buchholz, Gainesville, and North Marion among others. Should defeat Forest and Oakleaf to go 10-0. I don't know whether this Vanguard team is as good or better than the 2016 team that went to the 2nd round and lost a nail biter to Lake Gibson. They don't seem to be as explosive. However, they are winning with steady play and toughness. How do the playoffs stack up this season for 6A? Does Vanguard have a good chance of taking it to the house?
I think this might be the Knights best chance to Finally get back to a state Final. It obviously looks like it is going to come down to them and Armwood out of the North. If the Knights get them at home I like their chances in that game. But I honestly think the QB position might come back to bite Vanguard eventually but I hope not. Travonte Rucker is very inaccurate a lot because of course he isn't a QB to begin with as he's one of the top WR prospects in the country in the 2021 class. But no experience at the position after the QB last year graduated forced them to put Rucker in because of his skill set. North Marion is the best team they have played all year and Rucker struggled big time in that game as I was their and seen it for myself. He might have improved since then but from what I hear he is still very inconsistent. He will need to show a lot of improvement over the long haul for the Knights to have a chance to do something special. Defense on the other hand is deep. Extremely fast and very physical. They really got some ball hawks in that secondary but the D-Line is definitely the strength of the team. They're one of the best if not the best I have seen Vanguard have since the 90s

I think an undefeated Regular season as well. But Braden River will be a tough game and Palmetto isn't going to be easy this year either. They have a really good defense coming back that is going to keep them in about every game

My thoughts on IMG last night
1) that secondary doesn't look even remotely close to being good based on what i saw and quite frankly I felt they weren't even close to as good as advertised, very underwhelming performance
2) the defensive line may be huge but they aren't athletic, even when they created pressure our qb was able to move around and leave them running in circles, if img doesent go into full condition mode they will lose if they face a qb who can scramble
3) if IMG plays like they did last night they will lose at least 3 games this season and @Steve you can back up that i said this last night as well and I think you also mentioned this IMG team didn't look very good
My thoughts on Columbia is that if we take this game for what it is, showing our potential and proving to ourselves we can compete with a elite team and beat them then we will be very good this year, however we can't worry about how high everyone will see us ranking wise
I told several players last night that even with that win it means nothing if we don't run the table, a lot of people Thought it was a fluke and only way to prove otherwise is 14-0 and getting to state to face STA/Dwyer/Venice
Columbia also did not seem to care on the field about who was what star rankings
They played without being intimidated and proved a great team means a hell a lot more than great players on a team who didn't play like a team
Yes I remember you saying that friday night @ColumbiaHighFan2017class and rightfully so. If this is what IMG will be bringing this year they will lose 3 or more games easily. I was nothing but impressed with Columbia too. They took it to IMG from the start and never let up. Were making all their drives look very easy. Columbia is a force to be reckoned with this year. Their is no doubt about that. Rock solid performance all around on friday night
