They’ve got very little depth. 35-40 varsity players. But I would say they’ve got 10-12 of those guys that’ll be D1.

If your new coach is worth anything, you guys should win. I don’t think Trinity is exceptionally well coached.

It don't matter how many DI players they have, unless they are able to play FORTY EIGHT MINUTES! Just ask Grayson!

WELL, if our new coach is anything like the PREVIOUS ONE! We'll be rotating sixty players in the FIRST QUARTER! And from what I hear, he likes to play offense, like his hair is on fire!

They are small, young, slow and weak :)!

Just kidding. Trinity will be a hand full for any team next season. This should be a good match up.

SOOOOOO, I wonder why our resident guru, Colombia County fan, is laughing at the Colquitt-Trinity matchup? Is he perhaps, naive enough to play into the, it don't matter the size of the school bull? Unlike Florida, where transfers are an everyday occurrence in order to compete! Size DOES matter in Georgia!

The rest of the facilities are absolutely insane. Nicest I’ve seen.

As far as a public school goes, Colquitt County is extremely nice (I know Rabid wants his ego stroked)

WHY would you say that? I don't need no stinking strokes! But as my wise ole grandma use ta say! "Lil Rabid, iffin ya kin DO IT, it AIN'T braggin!":)

As an aside, you don't know half of what we got a cookin in Moultrie, Georgia! But just a taste of it is, that USA Olympic diving teams, as well as several other country's teams, trained at OUR diving facility, for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta!

We've had male and female divers, who teamed with all of the major SEC and ACC diving teams, for the past three decades!

What does being public hafta do with anything? Facilities are facilities! It's just depending upon how much interest you have in your program! I doubt if there is a complex in the mighty BNU or the mighty Trinity League, that rival the best in GHSA AAAA, much less the upper classifications! Our new DC coached in Florida for about ten years! And he says that Georgia takes their football  MUCH more seriously than Florida, on so many levels!(fan support, facilities, participation, and coaching salaries, to name a few)

As an aside, I doubt if you know ANYTHING about Colquitt county athletics, in toto!

Hillsborough County has 30 major hs football programs.  Below are the combined records of each over the past 4 seasons(including playoff games) and the playoff record of each over the past 4 seasons.  Only 3 teams (Armwood, Plant and Jesuit) are routinely contenders for a state title.  10 teams have won at least one playoff game during that time frame.

I ask the question in the thread title because Hillsborough has always left me wanting for more.  Seems to me that one of the most populous counties in arguably the country's hottest hs football state would have more than a few really strong teams.  Why are there not more?  Is it just me, or does Hillsborough have a disproportionate number of mediocre programs?

    Winning Programs

    Armwood-     51-6   13-4 in p/o games

    Berkeley Prep-     27-15   3-2 in p/o games

Bloomingdale-     25-19   2-2 in playoff games

    Chamberlain-    24-17   no p/o games

    Durant-     24-18    0-1 in p/o games

East Bay-     24-16   no p/o games

    Gaither-     23-19   0-2 in p/o games

    Hillsborough-     25-17   1-2 in p/o games

    Jefferson-     27-20   4-4 in p/o games

    Jesuit-     43-9   10-4 in p/o games

    Plant-    45-9   10-4 in p/o games

    Plant City-    30-13    2-2 in p/o games

    Steinbrenner-      22-18   0-1 in p/o games

Tampa Bay Tech-     34-13   4-4 in p/o games

    Tampa Catholic-     31-15   4-4 in p/o games

    Losing Programs

    Alonso-     15-25

    Brandon    17-26

    Blake-     16-25

    Freedom-     13-26

    King-     9-34

    Lennard-     11-30

    Leto-     1-39

    Middleton-     17-24

    Newsome-     19-21

    Riverview-     14-26

    Robinson-     16-21

    Sickles-     20-22   0-2 in p/o games

    Spoto-     12-27

    Strawberry Crest-     3-37

    Wharton-    15-25

I would think that it is a similar situation to MANY metro counties in Georgia! Exhibit A would be Gwinnett county, population 900,000 and growing! There are probably 25-30 high schools in the county! But it seems as though it is ALWAYS the same five or six, who are in the mix for a state title!(And they routinely brag of having the greatest feeder system in the country) So, you would think that the LUUUUV would be spread out! MY contention, that it may be the same in Hillsborough county, as it is in Gwinnett! That a majority of the talent, perennially congregates at those same schools!

As an aside, talent helps, but isn't always a major contributor as to who has the powerhouse programs in a given area. Take Atlanta metro for example! It is one of the three of four hotbeds for high school athletes in the country.(Dekalb, Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, Henry, Rockdale, and Forsyth counties) Yet RARELY, do Atlanta metro teams win state titles! Gwinnett county is the exception, with the likes of Brookwood, Parkview, Archer, Grayson, North Gwinnett, and Norcross!

Sometimes I think it's deliberate that such skills are not taught in school. As to our budget deficit and national debt situation, we, as a country get away with it because of the dollar's status as the primary reserve currency. If and when that changes, we will be in for a rude awakening as our economic situation will worsen dramatically.

Money skills, to my knowledge, have NEVER been taught IN SCHOOL! Those skills were learned my yours truly, by working after school, on weekends, and in the summer! You find out pretty quickly, that money DOESN'T, in fact, grow on trees! And you learn the value of a buck, and how to stretch it to meet yours, or your family's financial obligations. There is NO SUBSTITUTE for experience!

Just curious, but how many high school seniors are ready for the NFL vs NBA vs MLB. The NFL doesn't have a developmental league or minor league system the way the NBA, MLB, or NHL have, so that means they have to be good enough to make the 53 man roster or at least the practice squad straight of high school.

In the NBA with a greater focus on general athleticism and skills, I think a high school senior could compete (most can't). In the NFL, I think that there number might be 1 guy a year (most likely a kicker).

Coaches shouldn't be paid the sums they are paid (pay them the average tenured university professor salary with assistants being assistant professor salaries). See how long these coaches sing the praise of amateur status then.

Which high school kicker have you seen, who could compete for a job in the NFL? We had one of the top kickers in the country last season! And he got ONE major college offer, to FSU!

Dabo Swinney is now the highest-paid coach in college football.  Swinney and Clemson have agreed to a 10-year contract extension worth $93 million. The total value of Swinney’s contract surpasses the $75 million over 10 years that Texas A&M gave Jimbo Fisher a year ago and averages out to more per year than the $8.3 million Alabama coach Nick Saban made in 2018.

...yet we have students graduating college with massive debt and college athletes going to bed hungry.  What's wrong with this picture?

The hungry playas shoulda played for Colquitt county! And except in few instances, a 21st Century college degree, is WORTHLESS! Today's professors don't educate a student for gainful employment!

Expect legit D1 guys all over the field. One CB (5 star) committed to Clemson with another (4 star) committed to GT. They will be huge on the line on both sides of ball. The offense is pretty basic with the premise being get the ball to an athlete.

Then, if they are HUGE, they MAY get tired of running from sideline to sideline!:) Do you suppose they are any more talented than 2018 Grayson, who had two major DI backups? The two most talented teams in our state,(Grayson and Marietta)didn't make it to the QUARTERfinals!

This TCA team will likely be a top 5 team in FL by time August rolls around

Don't let their 3a classification fool you, they would hold their own with most elite teams in FL because of them being well coached and very talented

How WELL I know! Of the other Florida teams we've played, I believed that all were under the enrollment size of our current 7A! But they weren't your run of the mill Florida teams EITHER!:o
