  1. In South Florida coaches are told it’s recruiting if they talk up football to students visiting from 8th grade even if a feeder Because they aren’t enrolled at your school yet and it’s recruiting for athletics. Not saying it doesn’t happen, but that’s the message. It’s just a small thing, but it creates a bigger divide between different types of schools when added to other things.
  2. Impossible to stop kids from talking to other kids or guys just wanting to transfer to bigger programs/winning problems. What they need to crack down on are specific things that coaches do 1. If being paid or a volunteer coach, you can not be part of an all star 7s team. Do one with your own team. 2. You can not run a sports based summer college tour like a side business and take kids from other schools. 3. You can not follow players from other teams on social media. A few do it for the right reasons. Most do it to plant the seed even if they never say a word. Public schools are just as guilty for all the above #4 more private 4. Stop allowing private schools to hold clinics and showcases on campus. Public schools are told that if they even mention their sports program to 8th grade visitors it’s a violation. I don’t even know if these are enforceable in anyway, but they seem to be the most common forms of recruiting that lead to transfers that I see outside of kids just talking to each other.
  3. From what I hear it’s ego and wanting to be too involved. Telling coaches who they have to start and play even if a kid is being disciplined for something. I’ve heard kids have been suspended and he walked them right on the field in uniform game day and told coaches they have to put them in. Also, firing coaches if they start to get too popular in the school and community. Not wanting to give head coaches on campus jobs for the same reason. It is his program and his school. He has to be the man and have the power type stuff. This is just what I hear from the couple alumni and former coaches there I know. They all are waiting for him to retire.
  4. I think they could have ran nothing, but dives with 3rd string players and scored 60. I seen some highlights. ELY looked tiny. Dline looked JV small. That principal has to retire. No coaches want to deal with him and the players all scatter after every change.
  5. The 35 pt. Running clock doesn’t kick in until the 2nd half.
  6. Sunsentinal has the story. It basically a little bit of truth by both coaches. Head of BCAA confirmed it. Kid had symptoms in school today and nurse wrote it up. Played in game. BCAA was alerted. Talked to both admins. Dillard admins didn’t feel comfortable. Deerfield admins agreed and they ended the game. So, the only thing really to figure out is did Deerfield know before the game. If they did are they really in the wrong because only have to quarantine team if a player tests positive. Probably shouldn’t have played him, but that isn’t the same as breaking rules.
  7. So, not really rumor any more if Deerfield HC said it. Now it’s they have to figure out should the kid have even been in the game. Yes or No. If yes, Dillard shouldn’t have stopped the game. If no, then Deerfield in the wrong and should be punished.
  8. Dillard Coach said he doesn’t know in interview. Said he was told Deerfield just got on buses and left.
  9. Hallandale was at the BCAA media day and had 5 kids in the picture. Lauderdale already announced they scheduled someone else and the Heritage game that was canceled is week 4 or 5, so definitely not Covid related. Maybe they are trying to get kids cleared to play JV or back end of V schedule. Either way it is sad that transfers could affect a program this way. I mean they are a 5A public school not some small charter or anything.
  10. From people talking, seems like they were able to get 25-30 kids together, but they found out last couple days like 15-20 of them weren’t eligible. So, those kids wouldn’t be eligible anywhere else regardless. They have a picture online of a practice a week ago that shows about 25 kids, so that story kind of fits. In general though, if your school doesn’t have a particular sport then you can file and play at nearest school or zone school that has that sport without actually transferring. It is usually helps kids at small charters or education centers that want to play sports.
  11. I can’t give you official source, but if you look on Twitter the other teams on their schedule are already shuffling. They had Ft. Lauderdale and Western week 1 and 2. Both those teams have agreed to play each other week 3 now to make up the lost game vs. Hallandale. Heritage is advertising for a game 9/25, which was when they played Hallandale.
  12. Well, all those transfers officially killed Hallandale. They are unable to field a team. Word is they thought they had enough guys even after the transfers to keep playing, but just found out a bunch aren’t eligible and folded. Heritage looking for a new week 1 to replace it.
  13. Also, Western has gotten at least a handful of transfers that I have heard about. They always do.
  14. Western is anywhere from 5-7 in a Broward top 10. McArthur and Cypress bay definitely not top 10. 8-10 could be a number of teams with transfers going around. Miramar, Plantation, Stranahan, maybe Monarch doubtful though. Hallandale would have been on the outside of top 10 before the transfers as well or maybe just at 10. STA and AHP definitely above CG. You have to keep Deerfield above Dillard heading into the season, but could easily see it flip if update throughout the season.
  15. 2A might have another contender soon with Coach Luque from Uschool going over to Avant Garde. They have had 8 players announce transfers to AG on Twitter in the past week. Who knows how many others are coming over that aren’t advertising.
