Yeah given the fact that I can edit the picks once the thread is locked and choose the winners, I would say it’s definitely rigged against you.

This debacle with PK Yonge is the exact reason these teams don’t even belong in a district. They belong in the SSAA with all the other teams who have zero chance to win state. Why should TC be punished a lose out on a home playoff game because the FHSAA is too incompetent and greedy to consolidate the classes and make it to where only real teams make the playoffs. Not these fake teams who don’t belong. And why is PK Yonge even in a class where they can lose 70-0 in the first round? What a waste
-
The sad thing is coaches in general would never agree to consolidating classes. That means it would be harder to win a title. They wouldn’t care if we had 12 classes. More of a chance to “win” something. So you will never get coaches and ADs on board because their job security depends on their success (most of the time) and watered down playoffs mean better shots at advancing further. “Regional finalist” in a watered down bracket sounds better than 1st round loser in a tough one
-
What decision did the governor make that has 8 classes for 484 teams when all we need is 5?
-
It’s exhibit A in the case for the FHSAA to disband and dissolve
-
But it’s been broken for years. When did they do this? We have had too many classes for a long time
-
I checked it out. The top 120 teams in the state in regards to student population all would have over 2,100 kids!!!! Why can’t 2100+ be a class?
-
I’m actually nauseated at the what the FHSAA has done. 8 classes for 484 teams. Horrible. Here’s how you do it. Rural Class (Class 1A) 50 smallest publics) class 2A (75 smallest privates) class 3A-5A (each have 120 teams in 16 districts which comes out to 7.5 teams per district.) only champs and runner ups make it. There is no justification to not have it like this
-
Not enough players. This story is an embarrassment. Not because they don’t have enough players, but because a team of this caliber could even qualify for the playoffs. A team who can’t even field a team is qualifying. And what’s worse is they came from a 2 team district which is an embarrassment, and they were runner up to the “champion” who went 2-8 and also qualified for the playoffs. This is a shame. I’m disgusted how the FHSAA has destroyed football in Florida.

Number 7 Mainland over number 2 Lincoln could be possibility. Mainland started out 0-5, but rattled off 5 straight wins in convincing fashion. Right before they won 5 straight they drove all the way to Georgia and played a top 5 state ranked team at the time in their house to a 10-7 loss. After that they have been on a roll! I chose Lincoln in the pick ems because they have had a better overall season, but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Mainland jumped up and sprang the upset.

Closest chance Pinellas County ever had to a state title. Crazy to think a team like Dunedin was that good. It’s not an area with any football talent whatsoever. -
Exactly. And what I proposed was more than reasonable. There is 500 teams in the FHSAA approximately. So if you did 5 classes, that’s 100 teams per class. You can keep the 16 districts per class which only comes out to only 6.25 teams per district. Why the holy hell is that not doable? You can even make it “fair” for the little guys and make 1A the rural class with the 50 smallest public schools. Make 2A the 75 smallest private schools. That leaves 3 classes with 125 per class. That comes out to 7.8 teams per class. That would epic. 7-8 teams per district fighting for a real and true district championship. Runner ups go. You will rarely if ever have a garbage team make the playoff. The districts will be too big to allow it.

I already moved far away. You should come up and live in Tennessee with me. We could be neighbors. I’ll show you the ropes of Appalachia. Lol.

This is the worst playoffs I have seen in my life. That is not hyperbole. It’s the worst I have ever seen and there no close second. Not even the Covid year was this bad. And the main issue is too many classes. It’s pathetic. 8 classes for 500 teams is an embarrassment. Hell creating some fake rural playoff is an all time record for embarrassment. Coaches don’t get paid, everyone stacks on a few transferred all star teams, no resources or money for facilities, training rooms, equipment etc. An incompetent bunch of buffoons running the state athletic association. Florida is an all around embarrassment and it needs to change!!! We have the best individual talent in the country!! No reason it gets wasted away with all the garbage.

We can even do the above for rounds 1/2. The top 8 posters advance to round 3 instead of head to head. Everyone let me know and I’ll make a decision before Thursday
-
Ok smacked and ready to go. I think after rounds 1 and 2 when there is only 8 posters left, we can stop the head to head and eliminate the bottom four posters in round 3. That way there will be 8 posters fighting for 4 spots in the semi finals, and every point matters. Tiebreaker still goes to the higher seed. The State Semi Finals will be 4 posters and the 2 best of the 4 will make the finals. That way you are going against more than just one clown
-
Hmm good point. Let me smack myself and get back to you on how I can fix that
