Will a Region Two team in Class 8A this year get past Region One and send a team to the state finals in Orlando? Some predictions are calling for that. However, first we need to get through the regional quarterfinals, so here is our predictions with the previews below.
NOTE: All game times are slated for 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday unless noted.
Steinbrenner (9-1) at Dr. Phillips (7-3)
Last Playoff Appearance: Steinbrenner, First appearance; Dr. Phillips, 2014
Skinny: For the first time since 2009, the Warriors are playoff bound, unfortunately it will be a quick exit as the new kids on the block are paired up with the old kids on the block in this meeting. The combination of quarterback Marvin Washington and tailback Alvin Bryant will be a tough challenge to stop for the rookie Warriors.
Joe Pinkos Line: Dr. Phillips 9 over Steinbrenner
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Dr. Phillips 35, Steinbrenner 24
Corey Davis: Dr. Phillips 38, Steinbrenner 13

Oak Ridge Pioneers (8-2) at Manatee Hurricanes (8-2)
Last Playoff Appearance: Oak Ridge, 2014; Manatee, 2014
Skinny: After going 25 years between playoff appearances, Oak Ridge has become one of Orlando’s best programs making the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years, including three straight years. The challenge now is to try to knock off state power Manatee, which despite suspensions early in the season has stayed a force.
Joe Pinkos Line: Manatee 27 over Oak Ridge
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Manatee 35, Oak Ridge 20
Corey Davis: Manatee 28, Oak Ridge 21

Treasure Coast (7-2) at No. 4 Osceola (9-1)
Last Playoff Appearance: Treasure Coast, 2012; Osceola, 2014
Skinny: Treasure Coast is making its fourth appearance in the playoffs and has lost three consecutive playoff games; while Osceola is a playoff veteran team that is primed for another state title run. Experience plays a huge factor in playoff games and the Kowboys look well on their way for another run.
Joe Pinkos Line: Osceola 31 over Treasure Coast
FHSF Predictions
Joshua Wilson: Osceola 40, Treasure Coast 10
Corey Davis: Osceola 45, Treasure Coast 13

Skinny: Gateway is making its first playoff appearance in 31 years unfortunately the Panthers are paired up with No. 9 Vero Beach. The Panthers rebounded from an 0-2 start to tie the school record for wins. Vero Beach has been one of the most consistent programs in the state missing the playoffs just three times since 1989.
