Welcome to Florida High School Football’s 2017 Class 2A Preseason Rankings for Flag Football. Each week during the season we will update the Top 10 rankings as well as provide an honorable mention list of teams that we are keeping an eye on. Information used to determine the preseason rankings include record and performance from 2016, recent history and tradition and the potential for team success in 2017. After Week 1 we will release updated rankings which will then be determined based upon information including record and games played by teams. It is important that teams update their information with scores with us on a regular basis each week by emailing us score reports at flag@floridahsfootball.com or updating scores in the ScoreStream app.  Lack of information (scores) reported by the teams will only hurt their chances of being ranked, especially if they are having a solid season.

CLASS 2A PRESEASON FLAG FOOTBALL RANKINGS

1. Alonso Lady Ravens
2016 Record: 11-3
The Buzz: A lot of people believe that Alonso could be setting up to have a type of season that Robinson had last year with some solid talent on the roster. However, District 2A-7 will be no easy task with No. 2 Plant on their tails.

2. Plant Lady Panthers
2016 Record: 12-2
The Buzz: After reaching the state semifinals last year for the first time, the Lady Panthers know what it takes to be in the driver’s seat and they certainly have that chance to make another deep run this year.

3. Seminole Ridge Lady Hawks
2016 Record: 17-0
The Buzz: Confidence is not as high among the Flag Football community about Seminole Ridge having a chance at repeating this year. However, with the benefit of the doubt, they will start in the Top 5. Their biggest foe will be Dwyer with the former mastermind behind the Seminole Ridge program now being there.

4. Apopka Lady Blue Darters
2016 Record: 12-3
The Buzz: Another team a lot in the Flag Football community are talking about and some feel like they could possibly be the top team in Class 2A this year. The schedule will certainly allow us to see how they will go.

5. Dwyer Lady Panthers
2016 Record: 8-4
The Buzz: Word out there is that Dwyer could overtake Seminole Ridge as the top team in District 2A-9. However, until that actually happens or we see something else that concerns us, Dwyer will likely stay behind them.

6. Martin County Lady Tigers
2016 Record: 13-1
The Buzz: After their most successful run in school history last season, Martin County has a lot to look forward to being able to challenge their way towards another district championship and a deep playoff run this season.

7. Park Vista Lady Cobras
2016 Record: 11-3
The Buzz: This team is worth keeping a big eye on. The fact they came within one point of knocking off the defending Class 2A state champion in Seminole Ridge speaks volumes, plus when others in the Flag Football community are speaking about this team, that is a good thing.

8. Hialeah Lady Thoroughbreds
2016 Record: 12-4
The Buzz: The second-year Lady Thoroughbreds team shocked the state when they became the first Miami-Dade County public school in just the first season to reach the state semifinals. However, with a lot of the team back, expect big things once again.

9. Miami High Lady Stingraees
2016 Record: 13-1
The Buzz: Another second-year program in Miami-Dade County, they found success quickly on the field last season going undefeated in the regular season and their chances to do big things again are up there.

10. Bloomingdale Lady Bulls
2016 Record: 9-3
The Buzz: One of the most consistent teams outside of the likes of Plant, Alonso, and Robinson in Hillsborough County, Bloomingdale has a lot going for them and they certainly are worth keeping a big eye on as they will get a few challenges this season.

The Next 10
11. Everglades — 2016 Record 10-5
12. St. Cloud — 2016 Record, 13-3
13. Western — 2016 Record, 11-1
14. Dr. Phillips — 2016 Record, 11-4
15. Fleming Island — 2016 Record, 11-1
16. Ferguson — 2016 Record, 11-2
17. Piper — 2016 Record, 9-4
18. Kissimmee Osceola — 2016 Record, 10-1
19. Seminole (Seminole) — 2016 Record, 11-2
20. Lake Worth — 2016 Record, 13-1
