GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Nine weeks are in the books for the 2019 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has given us another round of updated RPI rankings meaning we are another week closer to the playoffs.

As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like in early November, but remember things change, even with four weeks to go.

In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.

For Class 8A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

PROJECTED SEEDS

District Champions

No. 1 Seminole (Sanford) (8A-2)
No. 2 Bartram Trail (8A-1)
No. 3 Apopka (8A-4A)
No. 4 Timber Creek (8A-3)

Wildcards

QUICK THOUGHTS: With Mandarin’s win over Sandalwood and Bartram Trail defeating Oakleaf, the Bears locked up one of the playoffs spots in the region while Seminole did the same by defeating Spruce Creek. That only leaves Districts 8A-3 and 8A-4 to be decided. DeLand trades seeds with Spruce Creek going from No. 7 to No. 6 while West Orange falls out and Winter Park enters as the No. 8 seed. Still a lot at stake in the region and Mandarin is knocking closely on the door as the No. 9 team in the region.

QUICK THOUGHTS: Three of the four districts are now locked in place for the region, but there are no changes in the overall seeding between all the teams from last week. However, keep an eye on Plant at No. 9. They can finish 4-6 and have a legitimate shot of getting the playoffs because of their strength of schedule.

With that in mind Park Vista moves into be the projected champion in District 8A-11 at the No. 4 seed while Santaluces has fallen totally out of contention for the playoffs (minus if they win the district championship) after their loss to Boca Raton last week. Speaking of Boca Raton, that win vaulted them up into the No. 8 seed knocking Jupiter down to being the first team out.
