The Cottondale Hornets will not be taking the field for the next two Friday nights after three students tested positive which has led to 28 being quartine, the school reported Wednesday afternoon on its Facebook page.
The Hornets are coming off a 33-18 home loss to Wewahitchka in the home opener. The Hornets were scheduled to host Liberty County this Friday night and travel to Bozeman on September 18.
This comes on the heels of Lakeland canceling the first two games of the season due to positive COVID cases that have impacted the football team that was announced yesterday. So far several games this week in total have been canceled as a result of COVID-19 positive cases impacting one or both opponents involved.
As of now, it is unknown if Liberty County and Bozeman intend to find new opponents to replace Cottondale on the schedule.
This is a developing story, check back for further updates.
