Skinny: This is the first-ever meeting between the two teams and one that will start off the season for the visiting Eagles and will only be the second game of the season for IMG Academy’s National team. Edgewater is going to have a good portion of its nucleus back that got them to the Class 7A State Championship last season where they finished as the Class 7A State Runner-up. Canaan Mobley (2021) will once again be leading under center for the Eagles who after he went 173-of-289 for 2,777 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions last season. Mobley also included three rushing touchdowns for good measure. One of his favorite targets was Christian Leary (2021) who is back again. Leary last year had 46 receptions for 1,036 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively defensive tackle Kenneth Brown (2021) is back after collecting 56 tackles with 10 tackles for loss and eight sacks, while Deshawn Troutman (2021) is back at inside linebacker in which he had over 130 tackles and five pass breakups in 2019. Another key player Tommi Hill (2021) is back at cornerback as well for the Eagles. He collected 15 tackles and four interceptions last season as a shutdown corner. For IMG Academy, they are coming off a bye week after thumping Venice 49-13 in Week 1. J.J. McCarthy (2021) will once again start for the Ascenders under center after going 23-of-39 in the game against Venice, throwing for 341 yards and five touchdowns. Malik McClain (2021) will be one of his favorite targets who had five receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns against Venice. Other targets include Jacorey Brooks (2021), Ari Allen (2021), and Jake Renda (2021) who all had a receiving touchdown in the game against Venice.
