Skinny: This will be the fifth straight regular-season meeting between the two highly recognizable teams, but the circumstances involving this meeting are like no other compared to past years. For the visiting Tigers, this game will be the season opener in a schedule that only currently has four games total as the Tigers have spent the last month practicing and preparing for the season. According to Jordan Kroeger at the Lake City Reporter, Coach Allen has not officially named a starting quarterback but is deciding between Kade Jackson (2022), and Ty Wehinger (2021) and will likely decide right before the game who he will go with. Either one will be stepping into the big shoes left behind of All-State quarterback Jordan Smith who had accounted for over 2,700 yards of total offense last season. Other key returners back for the Tigers include All-State offensive lineman Tyler Ford (2021), linebacker Jaden Dunn (2022), cornerback Syheim Brown (2021) and kicker Zach Williams (2021). For the host Conquerors, the are coming off a bye week after suffering one of their worst defeats by a Jacksonville-area team nearly two weeks ago with Class 4A State Runner-up Bolles. In the 36-12 loss to Bolles, the Conquerors saw themselves on a side of the scoreboard they are usually not used to and seeing the quarterback get sacked six times. However, for that quarterback, Ja’Cory Jordan (2021) he will have a chance to redeem himself in this game, a game that is likely tor provide many unknowns given the fact that the Conquerors have only played two total games, one being a kickoff classic against Buchholz coming nearly three weeks ago.
