District Tournaments start Monday across this state this week in Girls Flag Football and we look at each of the four regions across the two FHSAA classifications in Girls Flag Football to give you some of our thoughts with the expanded district tournaments.

DISTRICT 1A-9

TEAMS: Belleview, Citra North Marion, Crystal River, Inverness Citrus, Lecanto, Ocala Lake Weir, Ocala Trinity Catholic,

GLANCE: If there is anything to look at here in this district, it is the fact that Lecanto has only one loss this season and that is to an extraordinarily strong Newsome program that could be contending for the Class 2A state championship. The Panthers have built a program that has embraced what Flag Football is about in Florida. Trinity Catholic is also on the up and rise and has followed in the footsteps of Belleview who has won the district the last few years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. With that said, the district is all for Lecanto’s to lose and for Trinity Catholic to likely snatch up, but also keep an eye on Crystal River as a potential dark horse.

DISTRICT 1A-10

TEAMS: Clearwater, Clearwater Countryside, Dunedin, Tampa Brooks-DeBartolo, Tampa Chamberlain, Tampa Freedom, Tarpon Springs, Shady Hills Classical Prep

GLANCE: This is a district where there is a lot to unpack, but if you want to cherry-pick out the best team in the district period, then you look at Dunedin. However, with that said, Tampa Chamberlain might be the one team that could spell trouble for Dunedin if they both get to the district championship in this one. As for the rest of the pack, the order will sort itself out on the field in this expanded district tournament.

DISTRICT 1A-11

TEAMS: Brandon, Tampa Blake, Tampa Catholic, Tampa Hillsborough, Tampa Jefferson, Tampa King, Tampa Middleton, Tampa Robinson, Riverview Spoto, Riverview Sumner

GLANCE: There is probably more that could be written about this district and its teams If it were not for the fact that the top team in the state calls this district at home and one of a handful of teams with an unblemished record overall. That team is Tampa Robinson, the defending Class 1A state champion from 2019 who is looking to make it five straight state championships won by the Knights and 6 out of the last 7 state championship games played.

DISTRICT 1A-12

TEAMS: Bradenton Southeast, Gulfport Boca Ciega, Parrish Community, St. Petersburg Gibbs, St. Petersburg Hollins, St. Petersburg Lakewood, St. Petersburg Northeast, Seminole, Seminole Osceola

GLANCE: The two best teams in this district are state-ranked Southeast and state-ranked Northeast. Southeast comes into the tournament with an undefeated record, but as the No. 2 seed while Northeast has one loss and has the No. 1 overall seed. It is expected to see these two teams face off in the district championship and that the rest of the bracket will just sort out who reaches the semifinals two face the Seminoles and Vikings respectively.

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

1A-9: Lecanto
1A-10: Dunedin
1A-11: Robinson
1A-12: Northeast
