District Tournaments start Monday across this state this week in Girls Flag Football and we look at each of the four regions across the two FHSAA classifications in Girls Flag Football to give you some of our thoughts with the expanded district tournaments.

DISTRICT 2A-13

TEAMS: Coral Springs Coral Glades, Coral Springs Taravella, Davie Nova, Davie Western, Sunrise Piper

GLANCE: With only five teams in this district tournament, undefeated Western is the clear-cut leader and no one in the district has been able to come close to matching them on the field this season. Props to Piper for keeping things together, but the Wildcats are likely coming out of this unscathed.

DISTRICT 2A-14

TEAMS: Cooper City, Hollywood McArthur, Hollywood South Broward, Miami Dr. Krop, Miramar, Miramar Everglades, Pembroke Pines Flanagan, Pembroke Pines West Broward, Weston Cypress Bay

GLANCE: The two best teams in this district in 2021 have been Dr. Krop, who up until last week had been undefeated, and McArthur. Either one of these teams has a decent chance of representing the district in the regional playoffs. The question is who is going to want it most. Dr. Krop has been here before. The dark horse is very likely Cooper City, but as they have struggled at times this season, it would be hard to see them getting out of the district this year.

DISTRICT 2A-15

TEAMS: Hialeah American, Hialeah Gardens, Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy, Miami High, Miami Beach, Miami Goleman, North Miami

GLANCE: The Stingarees of Miami High have once again shown they are one of the best Class 2A teams when it comes to flag football teams in Miami-Dade County. As the top seed, they only have one loss on the season to undefeated and No. 2 1A ranked Monsignor Pace. However, Mater Academy would like to say have something to say about all this to avenge an early-season loss who only has two losses. One team that dominated early in Miami-Dade County opted out of the district tournament and that is Hialeah who struggled this season.

DISTRICT 2A-16

TEAMS: Miami Braddock, Miami Coral Park, Miami Coral Reef, Miami Ferguson, Miami Varela, Southwest Miami

GLANCE: Miami Ferguson is the leading team in this district and its only loss was to Dr. Krop in last week’s GMAC tournament. Varela Is the second-best team in the district and would love to avenge the shutout loss they took the Falcons earlier in the season if both meet up in the district championship.

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

2A-13: Western
2A-14: Dr. Krop
2A-15: Miami High
2A-16: Ferguson
