While some teams have already claimed a district championship, more teams were added to the list last week of teams in Class 5A through Class 8A and locked up playoff spots for next month. A few more will join the ranks this week Here is a look at where things stand right now in Class 8A as we head into Week 9.

Records show are district standings only, not overall records.

DISTRICT 8A-1

Bartram Trail, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Creekside, 2-1
Oakleaf, 1-2
Sandalwood, 1-2
Mandarin, 1-3

OUTLOOK: Bartram Trail got the victory over Oakleaf last week, giving the Bears a district championship and clinching a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 8A-2

Seminole (Sanford), 3-0 – CLINCHED
Lake Mary, 2-1
DeLand, 1-2
Oviedo, 1-2
Flagler Palm Coast, 1-3

OUTLOOK: Thanks to Seminole’s victory over Lake Mary coupled with DeLand’s shocking loss to Flagler Palm Coast, gave the defending Class 8A champion the district championship and a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 8A-3

Apopka, 2-0
Lake Brantley, 3-0
Ocoee, 1-1
West Port, 1-2
Evans, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Things are very interesting here as a Lake Brantley win over Apopka would clinch the district for the Patriots. However, if the Blue Darters win, they will have to likely wait to clinch the district next Tuesday with a win over Ocoee, but if Ocoee falls to West Port, then the Blue Darters could clinch the district championship in that fashion. A lot at stake and in play here.

DISTRICT 8A-4

Timber Creek, 3-0
Winter Park, 3-0
Hagerty, 2-2
University (Orlando), 0-3
Colonial, 0-3

OUTLOOK: The goal is very simple for both Timber Creek and Winter Park – one of them is going to win and clinch the district championship and a playoff berth. There is nothing else to this one.

DISTRICT 8A-5

Boone, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Lake Nona, 3-1
Oak Ridge, 2-2
Freedom (Orlando), 2-2
Tohopekaliga, 1-3
Cypress Creek (Orlando), 0-4

OUTLOOK: Boone got everything it asked for last week with a victory over Cypress Creek and Lake Nona crushing Oak Ridge to clinch the district championship and a playoff berth.

DISTRICT 8A-6

Treasure Coast, 2-0
Vero Beach, 1-1
Centennial, 1-1
Fort Pierce Central, 0-2

OUTLOOK: Treasure Coast takes on Centennial this week and will need a win to clinch the district championship and a playoff berth. However, if Treasure Coast were to lose to Centennial coupled with a Vero Beach win over Fort Pierce Central would set up a three-way tiebreaker scenario to be settled by the final RPI rankings. However, if Treasure Coast and Vero Beach were to both lose, the district championship would be Centennial’s.

DISTRICT 8A-7

Palm Beach Central, 4-0
Palm Beach Gardens, 3-1
Wellington, 3-1
Jupiter, 2-2
Palm Beach Lakes, 0-4
Royal Palm Beach, 0-4

OUTLOOK: All Palm Beach Central has to do this week is get a win over Wellington to clinch the district championship and a playoff berth. However, a Wellington win over Palm Beach Central coupled with a Palm Beach Gardens win over Jupiter would set up a three-way tiebreaker scenario which would be decided by the final RPI rankings. If Wellington were to win and Jupiter were to win this week, Wellington would clinch the district championship.

DISTRICT 8A-8

Forest Hill, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Park Vista, 2-1
Santaluces, 1-2
Lake Worth, 1-2
John I. Leonard, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Forest Hill clinched their first district championship in almost 40 years last week with a win over Santaluces, sending the Falcons to the playoffs.

DISTRICT 8A-9

West Orange, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Osceola (Kissimmee), 3-1
Dr. Phillips, 3-1
Olympia, 2-2
Celebration, 1-3
Windermere, 0-4

OUTLOOK: West Orange clinched the district last week thanks to their huge victory over Osceola while Dr. Phillips took care of business against Olympia to seal the deal for the Warriors.

DISTRICT 8A-10

Newsome, 3-0
Durant, 2-1
Plant City, 2-1
Plant, 1-2
Riverview (Riverview), 0-4

OUTLOOK: While Newsome won last week, it did not clinch the district thus leaving the Wolves needing to get a victory over Plant City to clinch and get a playoff berth. However, Plant City pulls off the upset, and Durant wins over Plant, it would setup a three-way tie scenario that would be decided by the final RPI rankings. Now if Plant City defeats Newsome and Plant defeats Durant, Plant City would win the district championship.

DISTRICT 8A-11

Steinbrenner, 2-0 – CLINCHED
East Lake, 1-1
Alonso, 1-1
Palm Harbor University, 0-2

OUTLOOK: Steinbrenner secured the district championship and a playoff berth with their victory over East Lake last week with only Palm Harbor University left remaining on the schedule.

DISTRICT 8A-12

Venice, 3-0
Riverview (Sarasota), 3-0
Gulf Coast, 1-2
Sarasota, 1-2
Lakewood Ranch, 0-4

OUTLOOK: All eyes are on Venice and Riverview as the district championship and a playoff berth will be given to the winner of the game this week.

DISTRICT 8A-13

Boca Raton, 4-0
Deerfield Beach, 4-0
Monarch, 2-2
West Boca Raton, 0-3
Coral Springs, 1-3
Stoneman Douglas, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Things are simple this week for both Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach – win the game and you are in the playoffs as a district champion.

DISTRICT 8A-14

Western, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Coral Glades, 4-1
Cypress Bay, 2-2
Flanagan, 2-3
West Broward, 1-3
Taravella, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Western simply took care of business last week and clinched the district championship and a playoff berth with their win over Flanagan.

DISTRICT 8A-15

Dr. Krop, 3-0 – CLINCHED
Miami High, 2-1
Miami Beach, 1-2
Coral Gables, 0-3

OUTLOOK: Dr. Krop clinched the district championship and a playoff berth two weeks ago with their win over Miami High.

DISTRICT 8A-16

Miami Palmetto, 4-0 – CLINCHED
Columbus, 3-1
South Dade, 2-2
Coral Reef, 1-3
Southwest Miami, 0-4

OUTLOOK: Miami Palmetto clinched the district three weeks ago with a victory over South Dade and will be heading to the playoffs.
