From now until 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, Feb. 17, you can vote once per hour, per device to keep the integrity of the poll legitimate and fair for everyone.
Here are the nominees for each category and polls for you to vote in for Class 4A. Please remember to click the share buttons above to share this with your friends and family so they can participate in the fan polls as well.
CLASS 4A
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
QB Carson Haggard, Sr., Pinecrest Gulliver Prep
Led the Raiders to the Class 4A-Region 4 Championship game before falling to Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons, completing 200-of-333 pass attempts for 3,090 yards and throwing 35 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions.
ATH Kemper Hodges, Sr., Santa Rosa Beach South Walton
Primarily a quarterback for the Seahawks, Hodges was damaging both through the air and on the ground with feet with 3,077 yards passing with 34 overall touchdowns while rushing for 1,169 yards and 26 more touchdowns while leading the Seahawks to the deepest playoff run in school history and finishing the season with a 10-2 overall record.
RB Kamari Moulton, Jr., Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons
Moulton was a damaging back on the ground despite the lower number of yards he collected as helped the Chiefs with a balanced offensive attack that won them their second straight Class 4A State Championship. For the 2021 season, Moulton finished with 1,075 yards on the ground on 156 carries and scored 18 times.
RB OJ Ross, Sr., Cocoa
A bruising back for the Tigers, Ross handled the ball carrying duties rushing 253 times for 1,883 yards while hauling 34 catches for 375 yards. Overall, Ross scored 38 total touchdowns in 13 games setting a new single-season record for the Tigers with the most touchdowns going up against one of the toughest schedules in the state.
QB Davin Wydner, Sr., Cocoa
Wydner had a huge season for the Tigers with his passing attack going 223-of-320 passing for 3,529 yards and throwing 24 touchdowns in just 13 total games played to help the Tigers reach the Class 4A State Championship Game. Wydner’s passing yards set a new Brevard County record.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
UTL Terrell Crosby, Sr., Lakewood
Crosby was the ultimate player for the Spartans in 2021 racking up 1,413 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns. On defense, he had 55 tackles, 10 interceptions (returning 3 of them for touchdowns), 4 tackles for loss, recovering 1 fumble for a touchdown. On offense, he had 55 catches for 818 yards and 5 touchdowns while rushing for 115 yards and 1 touchdown. And then over to special teams, Crosby had over 200 yards in kick returns, helping Lakewood reach the Class 4A State Semifinals before falling to eventual State Champion, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons.
DB Cedrick Hawkins, Jr., Cocoa
Making his presence felt in the secondary, Hawkins was hawking to the ball all season long with 117 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, intercepting 4 passes while forcing a fumble and recovering 3 fumbles. His efforts helped the Tigers reach the Class 4A State Championship Game for the first time since 2018.
LB Jack Pyburn, Sr., Jacksonville Bolles
One of the top linebackers in the state and in Class 4A was a dominating presence for the Bulldogs’ defense. Pyburn finished the season with 109 tackles (80 of them being solo), 14 sacks, 16 quarterback hurries, 2 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and blocking a punt and field goal each as Bolles reached the Class 4A State Semifinals before falling to eventual Runner-Up Cocoa.
DL Shemar Stewart, Sr., Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace
Despite the season that the Spartans had, Stewart was a dominant force on the line racking up 80 tackles with 40 tackles for loss and sacking opposing quarterbacks 17 times as one of the top defensive lineman prospects in the 2022 class.
DL R Mason Thomas, Sr., Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons
Thomas was a leader for the Chiefs’ defense and helped guide them to their second straight Class 4A State Championship with 64 total tackles, 12 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, and forcing 2 fumbles while recovering a fumble. Thomas also recorded a safety, returning a fumble for a touchdown, and had a rushing touchdown on a 55-yard fake punt.
COACH OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Matt DuBuc, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons
DuBuc who has been the head coach for the Chiefs since 2016, led the Chiefs to their third overall state championship in school history with an 11-2 overall record playing a very tough schedule with their only losses coming to Plantation American Heritage and Class 7A State Champion Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas en route to the Class 4A State Championship.
Cory Moore, St. Petersburg Lakewood
Moore, who has been coaching the Spartans for well over a decade now had the Spartans right back in contender status in 2021, setting things up with a tough schedule that saw them lose to eventual Class 3A State Champion Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna and Class 7A Lakeland to end the regular season, but reached the Class 4A State Semifinals before falling to eventual Class 4A State Champion Cardinal Gibbons. Overall, Lakewood finished the 2021 season with a 10-3 overall record.
Earl Sims, Pinecrest Gulliver Prep
Finishing 10-2 overall and reaching the Class 4A-Region 4 Championship game was due to the success of Sims’ coaching with some talented players on both sides of the ball. The schedule included wins over Class 2A Hialeah Champagnat Catholic, Class 3A Cardinal Newman while suffering their only regular-season loss to the eventual Class 3A State Champion in Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna before falling to Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons the regional final.
Ryan Schneider, Cocoa
Guiding Cocoa back to their first state championship game since 2018, Schneider had the Tigers going through one of the toughest schedules in the state including playing four straight Class 8A opponents in a row, going 3-1 in the first four weeks of the season with the only loss in that stretch coming at the hands of eventual Class 8A State Champion Venice. Cocoa finished the season with the Class 4A-Region 2 championship and fell to Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons in the Class 4A State Championship by just two points to end the season at an 11-2 overall record.
Matt Toblin, Jacksonville Bolles
Toblin who has led Bolles since 2019 guided the Bulldogs to their third straight state semifinal appearance while navigating a tough but also evolving schedule in 2021 before falling to Cocoa in the Class 4A State Semifinals. The Bulldogs finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and with the Class 4A-Region 1 Championship.
