Welcome to the third FloridaHSFootball.com Florida Top 25 for the 2024 season!

Each week, I will provide a brief synopsis of the Top 10 and present the rest of the Top 25 listed below that. Each week records and previous ranking are also shown. The FloridaHSFootball.com Top 25 rankings will not necessarily reflect the FloridaHSFootball.com Sports Media Poll Weekly Rankings that are running each week during the season.

FLORIDA TOP 25 FOLLOWING WEEK 2

TOP 10

1. Cocoa (2A) (2-0)

The Tigers have a big challenge this week with a trip to No. 2 IMG Academy (Bradenton), but the Tigers have been known to do big things under Ryan Schneider and we should not expect anything different here. Last Week: No. 1

2. IMG Academy (Bradenton) (IND) (1-1)

The Ascenders made a quick trip to New Jersey and got a win over Bergen Catholic, but now the Ascenders will face a tough task against a very strong Cocoa team that has been known to be competitive in the biggest games they have played over the last couple of years. Last Week: No. 3

3. Lakeland (5A) (1-0)

A road trip to Lake Mary this week will have the Dreadnaughts facing a solid Lake Mary team led by Noah Grubbs. But as we have seen, Lakeland is always up for the challenge. Last Week: No. 4

4. Miami Norland (4A) (2-0)

The Vikings are off this week and will use this time to clean up anything that needs to be worked on with eight games left on the docket for the season. Last Week: No. 5

5. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) (5A) (1-1)

The Raiders bounced back with a strong win over Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes) and now they have Columbus (Miami) coming to Brian Piccolo Stadium this week in a battle of 2023 state champions. The Raiders will need to stay strong as Columbus is looking to regroup after losing to Our Lady of Good Counsel last week. Last Week: No. 6

6. Miami Central (3A) (1-1)

The Rockets blasted back with a huge win over Miami Edison and now have Booker T. Washington (Miami) this week in a battle of top Miami-Dade programs. Last Week: No. 7

7. American Heritage (Plantation) (4A) (1-1)

The Patriots bounced back with a huge win over Western (Davie) last week and now face a very hungry Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) team that is looking for their first win over the season. Last Week: No. 8

8. Venice (7A) (2-0)

A close call that was against Miami Northwestern in overtime, but that is good enough to hold Venice in the No. 9 spot this week with a trip to Bishop Verot (Fort Myers) this week. Last Week: No. 9

9. Mandarin (6A) (2-0)

Well, the Mustangs are going to be without QB Tramell Jones Jr., potentially for the remainder of the 2024 season and that would be such a shame for a senior year campaign to see it end that way. Honestly some want sound the alarm, but no team is built around just one athlete, and honestly, until someone beats Mandarin that we felt the Mustangs could have beaten, there is no reason to drop them in the rankings, especially with a struggling Sandalwood on deck this week. Last Week: No. 10

10. Armwood (Seffner) (6A) (2-0)

The Hawk break through the Top 10 thanks to Chaminade-Madonna’s quick fall out of the Top 10 and honestly put, Armwood is a state title contender this year in Class 6A. Last Week: No. 12

THE REST OF THE TOP 25

11. Miami Northwestern (3A) (1-1), Last Week: No. 11
12. Jones (Orlando) (4A) (1-0), Last Week: No. 14
13. Lake Mary (7A) (2-0), Last Week: No. 16
14. Clearwater Central Catholic (1A) (2-0), Last Week No. 17
15. Blanche Ely (Pompano Beach), Last Week: NR
16. Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood) (1A) (0-2), Last Week No. 2
17. Berkeley Prep (Tampa) (2A) (1-1), Last Week: No. 18
18. Buchholz (Gainesville) (6A) (2-0), Last Week: No. 21
19. Columbus (Miami) (7A) (1-1), Last Week: No. 15
20. St. Augustine (4A) (2-0), Last Week: No. 19
21. Tampa Bay Tech (5A) (1-1), Last Week: No. 23
22. First Academy (Orlando) (1A) (2-0), Last Week: NR
23. Miami Palmetto, (7A) (1-0), Last Week: No. 24
24. Monarch (6A) (1-0), Last Week: No. 25
25. Niceville (5A) (2-0), Last Week: NR

DROPPED OUT: No. 13 Edgewater (Orlando), No. 20 Plant (Tampa), No. 22 Western (Davie)
