When: 7:00 p.m. Friday

Where: Austin Smithers Stadium, Sarasota

Broadcast/streaming info: NFHS Network

Records: Bishop Verot, 3-1; Cardinal Mooney, 4-0

Rankings: Bishop Verot is ranked No. 3 in Class 2A; Cardinal Mooney is ranked No. 7 in Class 2A

What To Know: Bishop Verot is coming off a 43-13 victory over Calvary Christian (Clearwater) in Week 4 … Cardinal Mooney defeated Leto (Tampa) 72- 0 last week … both the visiting Vikings and the host Cougars are averaging north of 30 points per game this season so far … Bishop Verot’s most points came in a 71-56 loss to Venice in Week 3 while Cardinal Mooney’s most points in a game came last week … For the Vikings keep an eye on Carter Smith who has thrown for 710 yards and nine touchdowns through the first four games of the season while also rushing for 235 yards on 37 carries and six touchdowns, making Smith a dual-threat for opposing teams … Smith’s top target so far has been Marquan Young who has caught 12 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns … The ground game also has been swell for the Vikings with Deshon Jenkins Jr. having 445 yards rushing on 41 carries and four touchdowns … Devin Mignery is once again leading the charge for the Cougars under center and already has 405 yards passing and five touchdowns on the season along with 283 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground … Connail Jackson leads in rushing for the Cougars with 429 yards rushing and eight touchdowns … Safety Bobby Leckler leads Bishop Verot with 33 total tackles while Dwyer Camron leads the team in sacks with six … KJ Brown and Macaiden Brown both lead Cardinal Mooney each with 20 tackles in four games played … The Cougars’ defense has recorded 20 sacks so far on the season while also recording seven interceptions.

Josh’s Pick: This is a great matchup for both teams, but if we look deeper, Bishop Verot has played a much tougher schedule to this point through four games. That alone right there is why we feel Bishop Verot will hand Cardinal Mooney their first loss of the season. BISHOP VEROT OVER CARDINAL MOONEY
