FLAG FOOTBALL: Vote for who should be the Southwest Florida Girls Flag Football Player of the Week for Week 1 of the 2025 Season

With the 2025 Girls Flag Football Season underway in the Sunshine State, we are working hard in ramping up our coverage of girls flag football with the growth of the sport that has been seen in the Sunshine State over the last few years. As such, one of those initiatives in ramping up our coverage of girls flag football is to provide Player of the Week polls in our new condensed model of eight regions we will be using going forward in our coverage of not only girls flag football but in tackle football as well.

As such, Week 1 is in the books and we have looked at all the scores and all the game results from Week 1 and have narrowed our list down from the schools that play flag football and have posted statistics on MaxPreps in each region and have selected five deserving athletes for our Southwest Florida Girls Flag Football Player of the Week for Week 1. We encourage coaches to post statistics in MaxPreps to have athletes considered for our Girls Flag Football Player of the Week polls or submit them to joshua.wilson@floridahsfootball.com and write “Statistics/Player of the Week Nominations” in the subject line.

Voting lasts until 11:59 p.m. ET/10:50 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 2 with the winner announced on Monday, March 3.

WEEK 1 NOMINEES

ATH Lila Dinkel, Bishop Verot (Fort Myers), Jr.

Had four receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown on offense and intercepted a pass that was returned for a touchdown on defense and added a flag pull in a 26-0 win over Gateway (Fort Myers).

ATH Bella Martinez, Bonita Springs, So.

Recorded two tackles and five flag pulls on defense in a 19-0 victory over Cape Coral. Recorded five flag pulls and a sack in a 6-0 victory over Estero.

QB Melanie Moreno, Bishop Verot (Fort Myers), Sr.

Went 5-of-7 passing for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-0 victory over Gateway (Fort Myers).

QB Kylee Terry, Bonita Springs, Jr.

Went 13-of-20 passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns and had four carries for 14 yards in a 19-0 victory over Cape Coral. Went 10-of-23 passing for 63 yards and a touchdown in a 6-0 victory over Estero.

RB/LB Kamila Watt, Avon Park, Jr.

Had nine carries for 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns on offense while recording five flag pulls on defense in a 20-6 victory over Lake Placid.
