The 2026 Florida flag football season is just 12 days away, and Northeast Florida brings 48 teams into the new season across all four classifications plus independents with a strong mix of Jacksonville-area powers and First Coast contenders. The region features competitive programs ready to make their mark on the state stage.

Clay leads the way as one of the state’s top Class 2A programs, while Fleming Island and Fletcher provide strong Class 3A representation. The Jacksonville metropolitan area dominates the rankings with numerous programs competing across all classifications. Here’s a look at the top 15 teams heading into 2026, based on the Florida Power Rankings Index’s two-year historical blend.

ANALYSIS

Clay (Green Cove Springs): Enters 2026 as Northeast Florida’s highest-rated program at 65.36 and one of the state’s top Class 2A contenders. The Blue Devils are legitimate state championship contenders and the clear favorite in the region.

Fleming Island: Sits second in the region at 57.72 as the top Class 3A program. The Golden Eagles are solid playoff contenders and provide strong representation for the region.

Fletcher (Neptune Beach): Rounds out the top three at 53.14, giving Northeast Florida a strong 1-2-3 punch across Class 2A and Class 3A.

Class 2A Dominance: Northeast Florida’s strength lies in Class 2A, with seven of the top 15 teams competing in the classification. Clay (#1), Stanton (#5), Ed White (#6), Paxon (#8), Yulee (#10), Ridgeview (#14), and Menendez (#15) create a deep and competitive 2A field throughout the region.

Class 3A Competition: Beyond Fleming Island and Fletcher, the region features Ponte Vedra (#7, 45.75) and Bartram Trail (#11, 36.27) in Class 3A. This quartet provides solid representation for the classification.

Class 4A Programs: Mandarin (#9, 37.30) leads the region’s Class 4A programs, followed by Sandalwood (#12, 29.34) and Oakleaf (#13, 26.43). While not at the level of 4A powerhouses from other regions, these programs provide competitive representation.

University Christian: Leads the region’s Class 1A programs at #4 overall with a 48.09 rating, entering as one of the top 1A programs in the area.
