As the 2026 regular season came to a close ahead of district tournament play, nine Florida high school flag football teams finished without a loss. Among them is a defending state champion, several second and third-year programs, and a handful of programs that have been building for years. But not all undefeated records are built the same. Using the Florida Power Rankings Index — which factors strength of schedule, opponent quality, and margin performance — we take a deep dive into what each perfect record actually means heading into the postseason.

TIER 1 — BATTLE-TESTED: Alonso (Tampa), Ponte Vedra, Park Vista (Lake Worth)

Alonso enters the district tournament with the most battle-tested undefeated record in the state. The Ravens have played four Florida Power 25 programs and 10 opponents ranked inside the state's top 100. Their opponents have gone a combined 119-90 — a .569 winning percentage — against a strength of schedule ranked 21st in the entire state. Three opponents came within a single score. Lennard, the program with the toughest schedule in all of 4A, pushed the Ravens to overtime before falling 20-19. Plant, ranked 27th in the state, lost by 13. Newsome fell by two. Alonso has been tested at every turn and has not blinked once. The defending state champion enters districts at 15-0 for a reason.

In just their second year as a program, Ponte Vedra has built arguably the most impressive undefeated record in the state. Their opponents have gone a combined 122-76 — a .616 winning percentage — the highest opponent winning percentage among all eight undefeated teams. The Sharks have faced three Power 25 programs including No. 17 Chiles, No. 21 Paxon and No. 42 Bartram Trail, the last of whom fell 13-6 in a genuine test. They have also beaten No. 25 Land O Lakes by just five points and No. 29 Pace by 19. At 14-0 against a schedule ranked 31st in the state, Ponte Vedra is not just undefeated — they are one of the most credible title contenders in Florida flag football regardless of class.

Park Vista has quietly built one of the most convincing résumés of any undefeated team in Florida. The Cobras have played seven opponents ranked inside the state's top 100 and have survived two one-score games to stay perfect — including a 14-13 win over No. 38 Fort Pierce Central and a 12-7 victory over No. 75 Boyd Anderson. Their schedule ranks 25th in the state, with opponents going a combined 101-75. The marquee win came on Feb. 24 against No. 3 Seminole Ridge — the defending 3A state champion — a 13-7 decision that announced Park Vista as a legitimate force in 4A. At 13-0 and ranked No. 5 overall, the Cobras enter districts with something to prove and the résumé to back it up.

Deltona has been building toward this for a while. The Wolves went 6-6 in 2024, improved to 8-6 last season, and have taken a major leap in 2026 — going 13-0 and entering the district tournament ranked fourth in Class 2A. Head coach Mayra Matos has had this program trending upward for several years, and the 2026 season represents the payoff of that patient development. The Wolves have been consistently dominant — 13 wins and no game closer than 12 points — though their schedule has not featured a Power 25 opponent and only three opponents ranked inside the top 100. Their opponents have gone 95-81, a respectable .540 winning percentage, but the FPRI SOS rating of 98th overall reflects a schedule that differs from what the programs at the top of this list have faced. That said, this is a program with a track record of growth and a head coach who knows how to develop a team. Deltona is one of three undefeated teams in 2A — Bonita Springs and Bishop Verot are the others, and those two share District 2A-13. The Wolves have earned the right to find out how far they can go.

Bishop Verot is in just its second year as a program, and the growth has been remarkable. After going 9-3 in their inaugural season, the Vikings have taken a significant step forward in 2026 — 11-0 and are undefeated heading into the district tournament. Head coach Dave Villegas has his program trending in exactly the right direction. The two closest wins are legitimately noteworthy: a 15-14 decision over Gateway (Fort Myers) on opening night and a 24-19 win over No. 119 Mariner — the kind of close games that build character in a young program. The Vikings also beat Gateway Charter, ranked 53rd in the state, twice. With opponents going 52-60 and a schedule ranked 278th in the state, the competition pool has been limited, but the trajectory from year one to year two tells a real story of development. And the first true measuring stick arrives immediately — Bonita Springs, also undefeated at 15-0, shares District 2A-13. Two undefeated teams. One district. One of them will not survive the week.

The Bonita Springs program arc is one of the better stories among all eight undefeated teams. In their first year back in 2024, the Bull Sharks went 7-4. Last season, they improved to 10-7. This year, they are 15-0. That kind of consistent upward trajectory under head coach Thomas McGuire reflects a program that is genuinely building something. The schedule has been limited in terms of competition level — opponents have combined for a 64-97 record, with a strength of schedule ranked 345th in the state — and the Bull Sharks have not had the opportunity to face a Power 25 program or more than one top-100 opponent. Kinsley Brereton is one of the best quarterbacks in 2A, and the Bull Sharks have been consistently dominant, winning every game by at least six points. The postseason will tell the rest of the story — and it begins immediately. Bishop Verot, also undefeated at 11-0, shares District 2A-13. One of these perfect records will end this week.

Somerset Charter is 15-0, and the Stallions have been dominant by the numbers — but the schedule leaves plenty of questions to be answered in the postseason. With a strength of schedule ranked 411th in the state and opponents going 62-95, Somerset Charter has operated in one of the state's more limited competitive pools. The schedule also includes notable rematches — Archbishop Carroll twice, Hialeah Educational twice, Somerset Prep twice, and Colonial Christian twice — reflecting the geographic and competitive landscape the Stallions play in. Their one top-100 win came against No. 140 Mater Academy, a 24-19 decision that was their closest game of the season. Genesis Aguilar is one of the most versatile players in 1A, and the program under Willie Wilson is clearly building something. The district tournament will bring a new level of competition, and the Stallions will have the opportunity to show what this program is capable of on a bigger stage.

Buchholz is undefeated and ranked 34th in the state — and the story behind the record is worth telling on its own terms. This is Joe Tillman's first season as head coach of the Bobcats. Before arriving at Buchholz, Tillman spent two years at Santa Fe, and wherever he has gone, he has won. The 12-0 record represents more than a perfect season — it is the first undefeated campaign in Alachua County flag football history. The county fielded its first team just four years ago, and the sport is still growing roots there. That context matters. The schedule has been the least demanding of any undefeated team in Florida — the Bobcats have not faced a single opponent ranked inside the state's top 100 and the FPRI ranks their strength of schedule 444th in the state — but building a winner in a program and a county still finding its footing in this sport is its own kind of achievement. Isabella Alexander has been exceptional, throwing for 2,940 yards and 43 touchdowns. Entering districts as the second seed behind Belleview, the Bobcats will face their stiffest test yet. What Tillman has built in year one is real. Now comes the chance to show how far it can go.

Viera is a first-year program, and the Hawks have gone 9-0 in their debut season — an achievement worth recognizing for any program just finding its footing. Head coach Chris Murphy has his team playing together and winning, which is no small thing in a program's inaugural year. The schedule has been the least demanding of any undefeated team in this field. Opponents have gone a combined 31-77 — a .287 winning percentage — and the FPRI ranks their strength of schedule 483rd in the entire state. Viera has not faced a single opponent ranked inside the top 100, and the schedule includes two games each against Titusville and Astronaut, reflecting the limited competitive pool available in their area. The district tournament will be a significant step up in competition. Ranked No. 150 overall and entering District 3A-7 as the fourth seed behind defending state champion Seminole Ridge, Martin County, and South Fork, the Hawks will quickly find out where a first-year program stands against battle-tested opponents. Whatever happens next, getting to 9-0 in year one is a foundation worth building on.
