I believe so. If BTW wins both those games that winning streak will not be ending in 2015 that is for sure. If it ends it'll be in one of those two weeks. I still think they'll win their 4th straight title regardless of whether they go undefeated or not. 

They maintain themselves typically in terms of how close the schools are, but also just on pure tradition. BTW and Central are kind of writing their tradition right now, but those kids mostly all know eachother and don't live too far apart.
On the other hand if you look at a rivalry like Northwestern/Jackson and all the history behind it that alone keeps the fans and alums coming to the games. That game has lost the luster it had in the 90s and 00s but is still a big time game. At least to those schools. 

It would be tough, but it might be a neat little project to do sometime!

Great post! I think you are right though. As teams in North Florida rise up and begin to compete a little more it'll make the state better as a whole. However, with Central, BTW, and STA dominating 4A, 6A, and 7A. It could be a bit before we see the Northern teams make an impact in those classes.
However, in 8A Apopka which surprised a lot of people I think proved that the North is right up there with the South in terms of competing for a title.  

A page with every helmet of every team. I think seeing all the different helmets would be really cool, I know you already have something on here for that, but it'd be great!

The Chafie Fields game...I remember that one. I also remember whopping them infront of a record crowd in Happy Valley which I loved more than anything. 

No, because Butch while he only beat FSU once. He got better every year, beat UCLA in 1998 and never lost a bowl game. We haven't won a bowl game since 2006. It needs to change if Miami wants to get back on the right track. 

I remember when Columbia played in their state title game at the Swamp in 98? Maybe 97. The crowd made my jaw drop I was blown away by the amount of people they brought. Regardless of location it was impressive!

My bad slick. I'm bad at judging crowds truthfully. It could be 10,000 but I'll think it's 15,000+ but either way you are right!

I agree Zoe. Sad because this team has enough talent to at least MAKE the ACC title game. Maybe they wouldn't beat an FSU or Clemson there but they can certainly get there. Coaching has cost them. 

Columbia has talent...just haven't gotten over the top yet. Great program with an amazing fan base no doubt!

@Columbiahighfan Don't know if this can help you but I'll try my best. Booker T. Washington opened as a black school in 1926 and Central open in 1959 and became majority black in 1977 I'd wanna say. Booker T. went from 1967-1999 as a middle school then reopened as a high school 1999-2000 year. I don't know if they played each other back in the days, however present day starts from 2008. Central can easily drop 15,000 Booker T. I don't think can maybe 7,000. Anyways the last 2 years game's between them were good and both came in the top 2 teams in Florida and both were in the top 25. Over the last 8 years every game has been close except one year where Central won 17-0. As far as rivalry goes these are the best in Miami and running Miami at that. Now they don't have the classic battles at the Orange Bowl, Traz Powell or even FIU or 25,000 plus attendance crowd, but Traz Powell of the present is bringing some exciting games. Another thing I wanna add in is people only come out if you're winning. From the last 8 year's Central record is 80-12 with 4 state titles Booker T. record is 83-11 with 4 state titles and a national title.

You know what this is a great question! Let me think on this and get back to you there are certainly many!

Miami swings and misses big time in South Florida. Unreal how Miami can continue to stick with as inept of a coach as Al Golden. 

I have to say I think Olympia got a pretty darn good hire here! Congrats to both parties! 

Truthfully I think an Independent schools championship would be great. North Carolina has the NCISAA and conducts championships in 3 classes 1A/2A/3A for private schools(non-parochial schools so catholic schools play with publics). Schools like Day schools and such play in this independent league and it works just fine. 

As Assistant Head Coach at St. Francis I can only say that when we looked at the proposed district with NFC and FAMU we felt it was in our best interest to rejoin the North Florida Conference. I am still waiting on Florida to adopt a separate championship division for schools such as SFCHS...similar to the Alabama AISAA. That would be the answer for schools such as Oak Hall, St. John Lutheran, etc.

That and also some bone headed decisions by players in games which really I think cost you guys the STA game this season. However, with the right coach Miramar will be back and will be a force in 2015 no doubt in my mind!

I have to agree with this. Maybe make the privates play up a class? I know Aquinas could be in 8A and be totally fine with no problems. Bolles is a great school they would be fine in 5A. You can go on and on. Gibbons in 6A etc. 

I'm sure STA would take the $$$$ too.
 
As far as recruiting, every opportunity that a scout has to see a kid, is another possibility to get that scholarship.  Fact is, if James and Jake play and show great against a BTW or Bingham or other top 20, that means significantly more than doing great against a Nova/S. Broward. 
 
It's another game to evaluate them AND every school in the nation will be done with football, there will be nothing left except for all-star games. 
 
If James and Jake can pull a scholarship away from all other states, because they aren't playing, and James and Jake are,  AND they are the last kids recruiters see, It will be worth playing!
