  1. John Scargle has accepted the job at Palm Harbor U as the head coach. Scargle went to PHU from Clearwater Central Catholic where he served as defensive coordinator.
  2. Okay, I know there's way to many posts on this, but for finality sake- J'von France did end up transferring to CCC, his paperwork was held up by a day leading to a report he transferred to Tarpon Springs. He starts at CCC on Tuesday. This was confirmed by Bob Putnam the news reporter for the Tampa Bay times earlier this evening.
  3. I wanted to update a previous note on this thread that was reported by the media, but has turned out to be incorrect. As reported earlier in this thread, CCC picked up a bunch of transfers from Palm Harbor; however, J'Von France never went to CCC as was reported. He transferred to Tarpon Springs High School. Here is the article: http://www.tampabay.com/sports/footballpreps/palm-harbor-university-players-leave-for-more-stable-programs/2309439 So, CCC received 4 transfers from PHU and 1 from Lakewood. Tarpon Springs received 1 from PHU.
  4. Chaminade Madonna has picked up a few players from Archbishop McCarthy WR Logan Giordano and Eric Jordan-Scott according to twitter.
  5. I can also confirm that CCC added St. Pete Lakewood Safety Jordan Presley, this maybe old- but it's being reported on twitter, so I'm posting it in this thread. 6 transfers in 1 day and it's not even 10am.
  6. Peezy, they lost their running backs coach and QB coach. It's on twitter on the running backs coaches page that he was stepping away.
  7. Proseteye, It depends on who you ask. If you talk to the players involved the pattern is that they were so upset at the play calling last year that they decided to move onto other schools this year. They disliked the coaching staff and felt they had a better chance to excel at other schools. I'm personally not buying it. John Davis is now back at CCC as the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator has been the same for quite some time. If you're upset at the play calling and leave because of that- I understand, but before the kids transferred it was announced that John Davis will return. So, regardless they left knowing he was coming back and they choose to leave anyway. Now, the perplexing issue and the one I can't grasp is why the kids transferred to Calvary Christian. Despite the transfers out of CCC, the Marauders still have a dynamic football team with a loaded defense lead by Deandre Fitz-Henley and they already had a quality safety transfer into the program to replace Amari. They also have a good QB/RB combo and will have a strong offensive line as 4/5 guys will be seniors this year and that's before CCC gets their annual Spring transfers that just show up outta nowhere. In the end, CCC may not end up being a powerhouse this season but they have enough to compete in their region. Not sure of their schedule though.
  8. Clearwater Central Catholic TE/DE Dane Salterelli has transferred to IMG Academy.
  9. 3A is interesting, but nobody is beating Chaminade this year. Calvary, even with their transfers is still 3 td's behind Tampa Catholic..and Tampa Catholic is 2 TD's behind Chaminade. They'll run over Oxbridge even worse than they did last year.
  10. Clearwater Central Catholic's WR/S Amari Burney has transferred to Calvary Christian (Clearwater). Burney is the Scout.com #1 rated athlete in Florida for the Class of 2018. CCC's Nick Joseph also transferred. CCC has had a total of 5 kids transfer out of the program in the past week alone and I can confirm (via twitter) that a few coaches have left the program as well.
  11. Clearwater Calvary Christian picked up a big-time transfer from CCC, Deandre Ferguson. Word on the street is that Calvary Christian has opened their wallet and is starting to let kids in for football reasons. They may have upwards of 10 transfers when school resumes on Monday.
  12. JaxTCA and John Carroll have both moved to the new 5A. Jacksonville Trinity deserves respect for moving to 5A. I'm aware they moved partly because they couldn't hope to fill a 10 game schedule on their own without becoming a national team, or lengthy road trips but it presents them with a unique challenge to be in a great classification with many good teams. Let's face it, 3A over the past 4 years became "Can CCC/Chaminade or American Heritage recruit enough athletes to compete for more than 2 quarters?" Best wishes to JaxTCA and John Carroll Catholic in 5A. Going to be some epic games between JaxTCA/Bolles/Ponte Verda
  13. Wither John Carroll stays in 3A or 5A, they'll play MCC. That's a historic Catholic school rivalry that goes back to the 70's. You can add in Holy Trinity- another team that's going to have a rough time scheduling games; however, who else do they play? In 5A, they still play MCC/Holy Trinity, and now have a few games scheduled for them due to the district. Now, they're on the hook for 5 games, instead of 8. Maybe they bite the bullet and schedule American Heritage Delray. But, those public schools you mentioned- I seriously doubt are saying "Hey, let's get John Carroll". If I'm John Carroll and stay in 3A, I realize not many public schools- good or bad, are going to willingly play me. So, I can try to create a schedule that includes the following: MCC/Holy Trinity/Orlando First Academy/Winter Park Trinity Prep/American Heritage Delray. After that- I've got nothing unless you drop down to 2A and maybe you can get Champagnat Catholic on the schedule. Even in that case, and everything broke perfectly for them to get all of those teams on the schedule, they're still multiple games short. I understand the concept of your argument- John Carroll wants to be in a position to play average to bad public schools that they can get more athletes than- win their region and get obliterated by American Heritage Plantation every year; however, I'm not going to knock a team to move to 5A if they feel it's going to help their program, especially knowing that those schools are going to draw substantially more students.
  14. Well, in John Carroll's case- it's a scheduling thing. My understanding is that the Eastern/Orlando county private schools were going to create a conference; however, it fell through due to the conference in the West Palm Beach/Miami area. The Tampa Bay private schools (CCC/TC/Berkeley Prep/LCS/Mooney/SPC/OTC/IRCS/AFA) only want to play each other in a non-conference setup, thus they're leaving the rest of the state out of the mix until one of them play Chaminade-Madonna in the final 4. In other words, those schedules are all going to be set in stone for the forseeable future. Because of the Tampa Bay schools resistance to play anyone not in their "Inner Circle" and the formation of the conference in West Palm/Miami, schools like John Carroll and MCC are going to be forced to play up as there aren't many 3A teams within 150 miles of each schools. So, I'm okay with them moving up to 5A, even if it's into lesser competitive districts. I'm curious how Oxbridge handles their schedule- because, quite frankly- nobody is going to willingly play them until the playoffs. My point was more, if a 3A team applied to move to 5A- on what grounds would that request be denied?
  15. I completely missed JaxTCA electing to move up to 5A. Like John Carroll, I can't imagine there would be an issue if they filed the appeal. I imagine 3A would open up and 5A would become that much more powerful- it's a win/win for the FHSAA and football fans.
  16. Congrats to Jacksonville Trinity Christian for their 4th straight Class 3A State Championship. Despite the week in and week out rankings- the Conqueror's haven't lost to a 3A team in years. Rasheed Martin was a lot of fun to watch as was DJ Matthews. Hats off to Chaminade-Madonna. Many didn't feel you guys wouldn't compete in this one, I figured that winning would be a long shot- but this would be a game in the 4th quarter. Coach Jones is a class act and I wish the Lions well. Really looking forward to these teams playing again next year in the finals!
  17. I think JaxTCA will win as well; however, I'm not changing my opinion that Chaminade will make the game interesting.
  18. Remains to be seen for the sole purpose of the fact that Davis has a history of attracting amazing athletes from all over Tampa Bay; however, athletes aren't the Marauders problem. CCC's athletes the past few years could match Oxbridge/Chaminade/JaxTCA/American Heritage - that's why they were ranked #1 in so many polls sporadically. The problem for CCC is the guys up front. Pinellas County isn't a hotbed for linemen. 2017 will be much of the same. CCC is going to have 10 or 11 D-1 kids, but they're all athletes and skill position kids. The question is, are the linemen there? A combination of John Davis +Coaching + Athletes should get CCC out of the crowded Tampa Bay region, but then Chaminade will be there in the final 4 who can match the Marauder athletes but are night and day better in the trenches. Chaminade will face zero resistance in Region 4. Heck, you could combine the best athletes of every team in region 4 outside of Chaminade, and the Lions would still win by 21+.
  19. Not a transfer by itself, but it's certainly newsworthy since it will lead to numerous upcoming transfers. John Davis is returning to Clearwater Central Catholic as the offensive coordinator. Anybody who knows anything about Tampa Bay football knows that the transfers will be coming now that the announcement has been made.
  20. John Carroll is actually pretty smart to move up. They can keep their traditional rivalry with MCC and play more local teams. Hope it works out well for the Rams.
  21. Considering they held MCC, a team that averaged over 40ppg to just 14 and Oxbridge to 13, I have to assume it's very solid. I know they have 2 very good defensive ends, and I'm a big fan of both line backers Hunter Buckham and Cody Watson. Their safety is one of the best you'll find. Overall, I would give the nod to JaxTCA, but Chaminade isn't to far behind.
  22. JaxTCA 24, Chaminade 21 Chaminade has a great offensive combination of Henri Columbi, Shaun Shivers, Xavier Williams and Keyondre White. They're pretty deep; however, Chaminade has a really, really strong offensive line. Chaminade has proven they can score points against very good defenses; however, until a 3A team beats JaxTCA- they're going to be favored. Chaminade comes the closest any south team has come, but JaxTCA comes up with one or two more plays in the 4th to win.
  23. Fort White Fan, A lot of teams will move up to 5A. 3A will still end up being around 30 teams when it's all said and done. The problems is exactly as you mentioned- nobody wants to have to go through JaxTCA and Oxbridge/Chaminade except for teams that can pull 10 D-1 kids themselves.
  24. Honestly, not very good for Berkeley Prep to pull the upset; however, I think they'll make the game uncomfortable for JaxTCA for 2.5 quarters.
  25. MCC vs Chaminade is my game of the week. I really hope it's streamed. Chaminade has an amazing team this year lead by, IMHO, one of the top running backs you'll find in America in Shaun Shivers and now that Henri Columbi is healthy, they're on track. MCC played in one of the greatest football games in the history of football last week that captivated a nation. Clearly, they have the talent and never say die attitude to win this one; however, let's face it- when you play 9 overtimes that's a lot of pounding their guys took that Chaminade didn't. Chaminade is going to be the favorite (personally, I think they're the favorite to win the whole thing at this point) but MCC will make them earn it in Melbourne.
