But you have credit those programs for at least being the feeder programs providing talent  for ....ahum..."other(s) " in that District ;)

I'm sure Braden River was not heart broken when one of their kids left to go to Sarasota. On the other hand a kid leaving say Lakewood Ranch to go to I think it was Riverview hurts. Not the same district or class but still the same.

  2. So Lakewood Ranch would have been that 4th team. They had played no one and looked good to the computers. Too early to look at the standings in the season.

They have lost back to back games being outscored 94-10. They will take another loss next Friday by another large margin.

  3. I am for Venice without a doubt. I think they are good and better than most teams regardless of the lack of size speed and whatever you want to say about them. They seem to keep winning.

IMG is heavily favored and rightfully so. More D1 kids with offers. More size speed talent you name it.

Here is what I would like to see Friday night. How does Venice respond to everything against them on paper? How do they react when things are not going the way they want them to? Can they reduce the amount of penalties from last week?

I'm not looking for final score on this one. I'm looking for the other things that will make this a learning experience.

isn't braden river the second best in that district or is their someone I'm missing?

    They are.

Venice Braden River Palmetto are the ones usually on the top.

N Port Sarasota Lakewood Ranch are towards the bottom. These teams in the new setup for points may get 35 points for wins. In a good year maybe 40.

If you schedule better opponents and possibly lose it can net 30 plus a bonus 3 for scheduling them.

I'm pointing out the disparity between winning a district game vs losing to say a top teams in the state.

Braden River schedule is not that great. They need to win Friday night to keep things going. They have to play all of those weak district teams and scheduled Booker who is usually very weak.

  5. Player for player we don't match up. That is just facts.

Play together as a team. Play perfect with very few penalties. Catch a few breaks and maybe its close.

Or it could get ugly quick and get run out of town at home.

I will be positive and go for the keeping it close idea.  In the end it is what it is another game win or lose.

Funny fact is 7A 11 district is fairly weak. Bottom tier teams provide no benefit to play. Beating say a  N Port in the end might get us what 35 points. Losing to IMG may get us 30 points plus 3 bonus points for schedule.

Normally, no. But the well connected with a bevy of lobbyists, often find a way.

State tax dollars usually go to for profit corporations only when one of the following applies: 1. As an incentive to stay in or move to Florida when a lot of jobs are at stake; 2. For the provision of goods or services to the State (payment for services rendered). IMG's parent getting money is troubling to me, as I don't think either apply.

As the article stated the lobbyist said they fill restaurants hotels and provide revenue  in the community

  7. Couple of questions I have are:

How much does the head coach get paid versus the coaches he is playing? He doesn't have to teach a class we all know that. His day revolves around the game at hand.

How much does it cost to get these players, staff and equipment dragged around the country?

What do you think their budget is to operate vs a public school?

  8. I would not have thought IMG could get state tax dollars. When I first glanced at it sounded like a private donation. Then I go and read it again seems like the state funded school.

    Something not quite right here.

Do private schools that have paid tuition get state tax dollars?
