That Carol City defense was incredible. I was a sophomore in HS at the time and we played them in the first round of the playoffs that season. We scored 7 points on them and all of their other opponents combined for 6 points the rest of the playoffs. Willie Williams, Vernon Wilder, Kenny Phillips, Ricky Jean-Francois. Amazing defense.

I know this question wasn't for me lol but lets see if top notch agrees. I think The West should be favored in the district. They have Tutu Atwell coming back at QB, a ton of transfers coming in, and they already had good talent. They were good enough to win state last season, had they hung on vs Carol City I think they would have. Central will be their main competition. Carol City will be good, but I think losing your head coach, OC and DC will have some effect. Norland will be solid, but definitely the 4th team in the district. And don't forget that Hialeah-Miami Lakes is back in the district lol.

DB Nadab Joseph (LSU commit) and DE Kayode Oladele (FSU commit), both from Edison, are transferring to Champagnat Catholic. Can't be a coincidence that the old coach is out and all these transfers happen. I also heard they hired a new defensive coordinator over there.

Central has built quite the Pembroke Pines pipeline

That district with Columbus, Coral Gables and a seemingly up-and-coming Miami Senior, should be interesting.

I know it's a yearly game but I'm looking forward to Central/Northwestern. Also, Western/Miramar, STA/St. John Bosco, Booker T Washington/Edison

If Miramar had an even average quarterback last year, they probably beat Western and make the playoffs. Their defense was legit. I was at that Miramar/Western game and left in the 3rd quarter. I was shocked to find out Western scored on the last drive of the game to win. As was said above, Western's offense should improve, but the defense should take a step back losing two FBS defensive ends. The secondary struggled last year as well. To me, that district title comes down to Western and Miramar. Idk how good Cypress Bay or Flanagan will be, but I feel like the Western/Miramar loser will have a better than decent shot at the playoffs depending on strength of schedule.

Kids in south Florida definitely transfer to close by schools. A kid transferred to Booker T Washington to Miami Senior, which is a couple miles. Kids have gone from Northwestern to Edison to BTW. The West and Edison are about 2 miles from each other. Carol City to Norland is another example.

Same in Dade and Broward. For the most part, if you're in Miami-Dade County and can take the bus. Certain places you can take the Metrorail. Booker T Washington is steps from one train stop.

Oliver was a beast. And their other bookend, Matthew Hanson, signed with Akron, he was no slouch. Yeah the defense will be a big question mark, the secondary struggled last season. Crazy how much better the offense could be if Elijah Moore didn't transfer too.

Western on paper should have a solid offense. Hopefully Harrison Story develops more. The offense struggled late in the season vs Miramar and Deerfield Beach

I know they lost at least 3 linemen to graduation (Kadeem Telfort to UF, Willa Pierre to FIU, Teaki Fuller to BCU). Dontae Lucas transferred from BTW to Miami Sr. I think they may have 2 linemen returning.

On paper, The West should be better than last season. I think they will be on the field as well. Personally I think the district title will come down to them and Central. I think CC is good enough to make the playoffs. I don't think they'll be as good as last season, but still pretty good.

Mandarin head coach found a new home (per FootballScoop): Lincoln (FL): Quinn Gray will be the new head coach of the program. Gray recently stepped down at Mandarin HS (FL), citing wanting to spend more time with his family.

So they replaced McArthur with this game?

STA has some kind of super staff. My goodness.

The article also mentions that Ryan Schneider is out as STA's OC and Ryan Collins is leaving Flanagan to replace Schneider.
