As far as why the district is so weak, there are different reasons for different teams. For instance: -Westland is just in an area devoid of talent and the school doesn't really care to have a good football team. God bless their coach, but he's got nothing there -Miami Springs consistently has a top 3 team in the district as far as talent, but their coaching isn't strong; and I think they were poached pretty heavy this offseason by other schools for their players - Mater and Doral pretty much depend on recruiting and when that doesn't work, you're going to see how they can't do anything (like I think they'll be this year) -Mourning has talent, but again not great coaching and their numbers I hear are down -Reagan is always gonna be a tough, ground and pound team. Never special, but always well coached. Can't do enough to win the district usually. -Goleman has been the same, but they will open it up more this season. Talent is there, if they can put it all together it can be a special season -South Miami had a nice season last year, this year they have some big time recruits. But their QB from last year is gone. He made them tick. If they don't have a capable replacement they won't do much. If they do find one, they could contend for the district. -Sunset was fairly talented, I hear they lost a lot to graduation. Coaching isn't great to me. Every so often they have a really nice year. I don't see this year being that year though.

Well I will say that part of the issue, at least in my opinion, is that the FHSAA is so hell-bent on keeping just Dade County teams in that district. Between districts 14-16 in 7A, there are 18 schools. Make each district 6 schools. Yes some Dade schools have to be in the same district as Broward, but they do it in lower classifications already. I'd do this: -District 14-7A *STA, Ely, Fort Lauderdale, South Broward, McArthur, Hollywood Hills 15-7A *Nova, West Broward, Cooper City, Goleman, Mourning, Westland Hialeah 16-7A Sunset, Doral, Reagan, Mater, South Miami, Miami Springs

Coaches don’t get paid much here so they go elsewhere. So the quality of coach is way down in Florida.

Best that they do that. It was gonna be tough for them to win with the crew they had before transfers. It would have been flat out unsafe with the squad they have now.

I think a few of them were at Norland. So it's possible they go back there. Now this is pure speculation on my part lol take it all with a grain of salt. The coach that they followed to Doral mysteriously and coincidentally is off Twitter now.

Heard another South Broward defection today. 2019 athlete Rodney Adderley transferred to Cypress Bay. The new head coach at CB is the previous athletic director at South Broward so that’s the connection I’m thinking there.

If I was a bettin man I’d say STA vs Dwyer for the 7A region 4 title as of right now.
