  1. This year in Palm Beach County we did not have one Pubic School that made it to Orlando, we did have one Private Program to make it up to Orlando who loss to a very good C.M team this year. We did have some programs in Palm Beach County that had a successful season and their programs are headed in the right direction.

Number 1 Team in Palm Beach County- Palm Beach Central they had a good run this year finishing the regular season at 9-1 and eventually loss in the Regional Finals to Deerfield Beach. Palm Beach Central lose a lot through graduation but I'm pretty sure they will load up in the "Transfer Season" so I expect them to be in the thick of things next season.

Number 2 Team in Palm Beach County- Dwyer They also finish the regular season at 9-1 and just like Palm Beach Central, Dwyer pretty much ran through the regular season (accept for week 2 ATL) they also loss a lot to graduation but Dwyer has loss talent every year and find ways to reload (Palm Beach Gardens best back transferred to Dwyer in November) and become one of the best teams in the state every season. Palm Beach 7a will be very interesting with Atlantic moving down to that classification.

Number 3 Team in Palm Beach County- Atlantic, If we are speaking of the Top 5 at the end of the regular season Atlantic will be the number 1 team. But Atlantic finish the regular season 10-0 and loss the first round of the playoffs to a Western Program that wasn't expected to play 2 quarters with Atlantic. With all the success last season Atlantic was very young and they return a lot of talent, I am very confident Atlantic will be one of the top teams in 7a next season.

Number 4 Team in Palm Beach County- Glades Central finish the regular season at 7-3, they over achieved which is something you don't hear talking about the muck programs but they wasn't expected to compete and win versus a very good Booker T Washington program. The look ahead with this program is clouded because of the uncertainty with all the coaching movements with this staff to start the off season.

Number 5 Team in Palm Beach County- Kings Academy, Kings was the only program to make it to Orlando. They was a very scrappy bunch that had some things go their way along their journey to Orlando. They are another program that loss some key pieces to their success one being their dynamic Quarterback so their 2019 outlook is very difficult especially with Trinity falling back down to the 3a classification.

Is there an article in the Post or Sentinel that talks about the current head guys being removed or is just strong rumor at this point in and time?

I haven't read anything I think it's all rumor at this point

These are the comments that give people false perceptions about the Muck area. Maybe your friend just didn’t interview well.

He has a valid point Glades Central last few hires been Muck guess

    1. Hester (twice)

    2. Willie Snead

    3. Casko

    4. R. Blackman

    Pahokee

    1. Walkes

    2. A. Smith

    3. B. Thompson

So do outside coaches have a chance at these jobs?

The Muck has become a hard place to coach for a number of reasons:

    1) small town bs politics. I had a buddy who applied for some jobs down there but he didn’t have the “right” resume. The dude coached at the D1 level and at a state championship winning program! But he wasn’t from around the there

    2) lack of resources. Not only is the area poor but you aren’t around a lot of money like in the urban areas

    3) tough administrations. It’s state championship or bust in 2 years, you can’t take the time to install your culture or anything...you gotta win immediately.

All 3 are valid points and I think its just very tough to come in there as a outside coach and also get a staff in there that is not from the area.

The thing is, there are alot of Pahokee and Glades Central graduates that are having success at other schools. So homegrown isn't all that bad. The misses has been not having the right combination of guys. In Hester/s years, he just didn't have guys around him that could help him develop players on and off the field. Hester (during his 1st tenure) and Blackmon both had to deal with ignorant Administration. Casko and his assistants just wasn't a right fit.

At Pahokee, Alphonso Smith had things going back in the right direction. But, he was dismissed. Walkes' staff just didn't mesh well on philosophy and discipline with the team.

So what will it take to get those graduates to come back and right the ship at both programs? Is that direction that the two programs want to go? Not sure but I assuming both staffs currently are Glades guys meaning they played their ball there and are from those communities? I could be wrong about Pahokee Head guy

There is also a misconception about Coaches getting fired on the Muck. Many walk away instead of actually getting fired. The only Coach that was fired at Pahokee was Alphonso Smith and that was not football related. At Glades Central, 1 ignorant Principal fired 2 Coaches, just because he could.

    Agree there

  7. Truly understandable but attending local games for years I have seen the Head guy get changed in the Glades there but then the fabric of the team is made up of the last coaches ass. from the previous year or before.

  8. Glades Central had a pretty decent year making it further than expected in the post season but I know it's not up to the standard the community has for the program. Pahokee was very disappointing by anyone standard in 1a I thought pahokee will dominate every year at that level. Dwyer actually had a pretty good regular season but like almost every year STA just to much for them. And I also will put Palm Beach Central in that conversation as well as Atlantic but hopefully we get more representation next year from the Palm Beach County area schools. Also I hope the local teams schedule more Broward and Dade schools in the regular season so that we can have a better grasp of how good our local teams are.

  9. I wouldn't say it was a down year for Palm Beach County but it wasn't our best year by a mile. I thought this year Dwyer team has a chance to compete with STA and that game turned out to be I believe a running clock. Atlantic showed a lot of promise throughout the regular season and got bounced round 1 in a non competitive game versus Western. Pahokee started off good but drop some questionable games 1 being Seminole Ridge. Palm Beach Central made some moves making it to the 3rd round but was man handled by Deerfield. AH-Delray made it a closer game than expected with C.M but ultimately loss the ball game. Kings Academy had a far better road to the 3a state title game than AH-delray and will have their hands full with C.M this game can get away from them early. Kings haven't played one team on their schedule that resembles C.M so the speed of the game for them can be a culture shock for both players and coaches. The only thing that will keep the game at a reach will be turnovers and un-discipline mistakes by C.M

  10. Student athletes transferring has been the same for about 20 years now the only difference now is that social media has taken off and local reporters report kids movement like front page news so we know much sooner but parents been transferring their kids for years now. You will never fix the problem of kids transferring because most adults/coaches target kids as the problem instead of their parents. Not one kid can enroll/withdraw from any school in the state of Florida so until their are things in place that don't allow parents to enroll their children into any school of their choice then this argument will continue to be an up hill battle to many loop holes in the system in general because once you have a legit reason that reason becomes a loop hole. Player A parents physically moved to the other side of the city....Player B uncle lives on the other side of the city and "supposedly" Player B uncle has full custody over him now.

Palm Beach Central vs Atlantic should be an interesting game. Would say a lot about PBC's prospects for the season.

I was there up until halftime last Friday before the situation happen and both teams will be pretty good this season Palm Beach Central and Dwyer. The half I witnessed Palm Beach Central pretty much dominated the game, like I assumed this Palm Beach Central team is pretty stacked on all levels as well as the dwyer team once they figure out the QB position. I expected another tight defensive game between PBC and ATL but I think in the end PBC will come out with the victory.
