pathetic that Florida doesn't support high school football more

Not only it is pathetic, it's sad, and shows how the fhsaa has done little to improve on the attendance issue.

    2016 vs. 2017 Comparisons

    1A - 3870 / 3717 (-153)
    2A - 1373 / 1287 (-86)
    3A - 2292 / --
    4A - 3856 / 4276 (+420)
    5A - 3119 / 4143 (+1024)
    6A - 6715 / 5805 (-910)
    7A - 4735 / --
    8A - 7122 / --
    ALL - 33,082 / 19,228

Looks like Attendance hasn't took up comparing to last season, and will be about the same or lower for this season.

  3. If you say that the new @FHSAA point system hasn't worked, take a look at some of the state championship and state semifinal games we are going to have the next two weeks... incredible what we are getting here!

    From Josh.

Is he saying the truth, or being misguided with this point system.

8A been really close with their games

7A looks about the same along with 6A.

    5A had some good games.

4A to 1A looks like it needs to be combined a little.

We live.  4 out of 5 head to head and  2-1 at Lakeland.  The classlessness wasn't so much ON the field but off.  The fans----grown a** men AND women---HORRIBLE but fun at the same time.  Sad these adults spend their time in warm-ups cussing out, throwing the cracker and N-word name calling at my DB's in warmups.  Had the opposite effect for our guys.  There were conditioned from the start about the streetfight that took place and what lied ahead.  I still LOVE everything about Lakeland including their HC.  I just don't like the namecalling by the adults.  It's pretty bad.

If you get to state, you'll need more than luck itself to beat STA.

I'd also look out for Palmetto (who beat South Dade) in Region 4. And Miami. But yeah in Region 3 it's DB, Miramar, but don't forget Plantation and Western. Both gave Miramar all they could handle this season.

I think Miramar has exceeded their expectations for the season. They at first didn't look like a team that can be this much of a threat. As for STA, they'll be fine, and still the team to beat in 7A, too bad another Broward or Dade power isn't in their class or vice versa.

Deerfield unless they play Douglas in the first round will not get out the 1st round && miramar will make it to atleast game b4 finals

Deerfield isn't bad of a team at all, I don't see them going out in the first round. As for Miramar, they have much to be positive about. They will be a tough out in the playoffs.

  7. What does this do to Miramar as far as their expectations in the playoffs go. Deerfield & Miramar are the top two seeds in region 3. Columbus looks the team to come out of Dade for now, but you also have South Dade & Southridge.

  8. The same juggernaut/perennial playoff contenders are still making it regardless of whatever system it is whether it's new or old. The new system isn't hurting teams like the STAs, AHPs, Manatee, Plant, Armwood, Apopka, Cocoa, Northwestern/Central, or Bolles/Lakeland. Only Booker T is the only real juggernaut that got the bad end of this, but they're in rebuilding mode for now.

Dont really know why people are complaining about teams being incentivized to play tougher schedules and give everyone better games. Guess everyone wouldnt want Cocoa vs Pahokee or Cocoa vs TCA but rather get Cocoa vs Cocoa Beach and Cocoa vs P.K. Yonge.

Pahokee is not the juggernaut that they once were, and it clearly showed with Cocoa pounding them 45-0. Perhaps Cocoa vs. Central Miami or American Heritage-Plantation would be a better matchup.

Think about how silly that actually sounds for a second...

Bolles is a playing a team not in their district to determine if they are district champion. That is the equivalent of Georgia playing Georgia Tech to determine if Georgia is going to be SEC East Division champion. A district championship should be settled on the field, the point system does the opposite. It is a system that can be easily manipulated by a savy coach. It also puts school district policies into question in terms of fairness. Many of the large urban school districts do allow teams to play out of county (other than district games). It is one of the reasons you rarely see a Duval Public School team traveling anywhere.

Were there problems with the old system? Sure, we have discussed them ad nauseam, but those same flaws still exist in the point system. You complained about poor teams making the playoffs and how this new system fixes that. Really? How many wins does Lincoln have? Could it be the result of the 3 team district that exists? Again, your new system did nothing to change this.

The old system was fine, but having district of 8 teams leads to tremendous travel concerns, especially for anyone North of Orlando or not on the coast.

I heard American Heritage playoff chances will come down to a team that they don't have in their class in St. Andrews. Just wondering if that's a clear fact because if it is then that would show one flaw in this new playoff system.
