  1. I have stated several times before in plain English that because of the open transfer movement, the only way for the rest of the state to compete with the South Florida juggernauts is to load up on transfers themselves. It’s not fair, but the classification Miami Central is currently in includes many other “cheaters” who get as many if not more transfers than Central. This puts almost all of the cheaters in one class, so let them duke it out while the rest of the state has mostly competitive playoff matchups. Also, Madison County belongs in 2S while Cocoa should be moved up to 3S. This would go a long way toward balancing out the competition.
  2. Well remember that Central does have one win against Bishop Gorman that came in 2017. They had to stay out west for another week that year because of the hurricane. And beating IMG National at their house is basically the equivalent of an OOS victory because they have no excuse to ever lose a football game at the high school level. Miami Central is probably the best public football team in the country. The proof is that they are top 5 nationally while the other 4 teams (Mater Dei, SJB, Gorman, STA,) are all private. That speaks volumes about the level of football that goes on in Miami.
  3. Intentions matter. If the nickname in question pokes fun at a student’s weight, height, race, creed, religion, ethnicity, and such. This is wrong and the ringleader must be stopped. Whatever consequences are appropriate for something like this are debatable, but I don’t believe an endearing nickname like “Flash,” “brain,” or “bulldozer” that some kids wear as a badge of honor for excellence in some ability, ought to be punished or viewed as inherently damaging.
  4. Keeping my hands off of the political undertones in this thread, I will say that anyone who would fire a football coach or harshly punish them in some way for giving a silly nickname to a football player needs to grow a damn spine and leave their bed at some point to encounter the world we live in. Goodness.
  5. 2019 Central was far from being their best team ever, but they happened to be playing SFA's best team ever that year and it showed. Not an apt comparison at all.
  6. I meant answer questions for Vanguard. If they want to win 3S then playing a team of this magnitude early on could help them see where their problem areas are.
  7. STA with a win over SJB would start the season #2 behind Mater Dei. Assuming Central beats Gorman they would probably be #3, while SJB slides to the #4 spot with Gorman at 5.
  8. It wasn't going to be a blowout regardless. My point is that Central is 1-1 against Gorman currently and it would have been 2-0 if that defensive tackle didn't get his finger on the ball at the last second to deflect it out of harm's way. Notice how neither of those games took place at The Mecca, too? It was at Gorman the first time and then in Naples the second game. Does Bishop Gorman know that playing Central at The Mecca would affect the outcome? Just one of those things that makes you scratch your head and say hmmm... And Central will play a game before meeting Gorman. They'll take on Vanguard in the preseason. That should answer some questions going into the regular season.
  9. Miami Central matches up better with Gorman than CMD does. They beat them once at their place and they would have done it again if not for a miracle tipped kick at the line of scrimmage leading to the football hitting the goal post. And 2017 Central was good, but this MC team is going to be leaps and bounds ahead of both teams that played Gorman. If the possibility remains that Central gets blown away, then why even bother saying that they are the best team in Florida and top 5 nationally? If they want to hunt down Mater Dei and SJB for the MNC, then they have to beat Gorman by 17 or more to shake some sense into these fools at Calpreps and Maxpreps. Central knows this so they will bring it. They are not getting blown out, they will be winning.
  10. I thought Gorman was playing Alamitos week 1, it’s actually Long Beach Poly. I stand corrected. Still though, Central will come into the game more rested. We will see.
  11. Agree with you. If Central somehow loses this game it would put a serious dent in Florida’s credibility.
  12. Some points to consider. I’m sure I have said this before. Miami Central cannot be pleased about being snubbed by SJB for MNC last year so they will bring it. Miami Central is fielding their best team in school history in 2023 bar none. But I’ll get to that in a minute. First of all, the game is week 2, so Central without a week 1 game will have 2 full weeks to prepare for this game. Secondly, Central will have Bishop Gorman coming off of a tough game against Los Alamitos week 1. Now let’s take a look at what Central has: They return 4 of their offensive linemen, basically their entire defensive backfield, two defensive linemen from last season on top of the transfer of 5-star defensive end Arnoldo Blount. Transfer King Davis is a very good rb on top of the two California transfers at QB, giving Central a very good QB and RB room to attack Bishop Gorman. I don’t really know anything about Central’s ‘23 team beyond what the people in south Florida on this board have said. What I do know is that Miami Central is fielding their best team ever bar none. Will it be enough to KO Bishop Gorman, I certainly think so. Time will test my words but I think Central is taking this game. Bet against them at your own peril.
  13. I’m talking about playoffs. but yeah I think Miami Central 2018 was STA’s last regular season home loss.
  14. Would be awesome to see Dillard break STA’s home winning streak.
  15. Well, I apologize for being ignorant. Just not used to the lingo, lol. But still very excited to see Miami Central and STA pound SJB and Gorman. Central is going to be on the warpath this year after being left in the cold in the MNC hunt by SJB last season.
  16. The name STA makes Venice folk need a diaper change and I’m not exactly a fan of Roger Harriett, but I will always root for them in outta state matchups. I love seeing Florida teams beat OOS comp!
  17. Yeah ok. I’m rooting for Florida no matter what, as should you, so I don’t know how it can be characterized as “talking $h*T” when a California team schedules a South Florida squad. Haven’t you learned by now? Bet against STA at your own peril…
  18. It doesn’t matter. Vero Beach is going to beat Dwyer badly. They have had one of the worst falls from grace in the state, right up there with Deerfield Beach, Plant, Flanagan, and in some ways, Manatee. It’s a damn shame.
  19. SportsFan sounds like Hunter. Something about the way he types.
  20. STA will always be STA. Their 2017 team should have beaten SJB by more than 4 points but they didn’t have a QB. You can always believe that STA will be very well-coached and talented. Their special teams play is unmatched. Their defense is strong as glue as always. If their offense avoids major errors and gets them 24 points this game will go to STA. In fact, I will go out on a limb and say STA wins by 14 or more.
  21. If STA’s offense is just able to get 24 points, their defense and special teams will win the game for them. They will be at home, with the crowd in their side and in the heat of the day. This is STA’s game.
  22. Aquinas is going to beat SJB. In fact, I think the game will be settled late in the 3rd quarter. STA 35 SJB 17
  23. That’s not good enough. Miami Central is seeking a national championship. So they have to beat Gorman by 17 or more and go completely unbeaten to prove to these ranking companies that they deserve the crown over someone named Saint John Bosco or Mater Dei.
