I was posting about this when we did suburban and metro debate. Who are we concerned about the most when making rules for high school football? The metro suburban plan only really helped about 10 schools who now may win a state title instead of being a semi finalist or finalist. Put elite cheaters in one class and let them beat each other’s brains on to win the elite true state champion. The other 90% of the teams who have zero chance at a real state championship now and get drilled by cheaters can compete against each other for regional crowns in lower divisions. We keep catering to elite few at cost of all.

Hornet. Not to contradict you but I just looked up that Winter Park team and you idea that they are student athletes is bull crap. I saw where they were busted for recruiting where they were putting kids up in apartments and a whole slew of violations of fhsaa. My point is only about three to five teams in each division have a real shot at winning any suburban title except Cisco’s who has about a 95% chance of winning its title. No real parity. At least the real games will give us something else to talk about. Naples almost beat central a few times and northwestern once. If they can hang with them then they have a pretty good shot at competing in 3s. Columbia is bent at me for saying suburban is a lower division and that Columbia is not favorite to win 3s. My whole point from beginning is that the new plan will not create parity at all because really awesome teams like Naples Columbia. Venice mainland. Lakeland and Osceola who already make semi finals and finals will roll on suburban and the same teams there will win every year and crush rest of division. So solution does not solve problem but screwed many non cheater metro schools by squeezing 8 divisions into four.

The only teams that beat Naples are dade super teams in Miami central and northwestern and the state took them away so unless Venice moves to 3s. Naples will either be state champ or finalist probably. It’s tough playing option teams with real skill players.

So after ten pages of posts what have we learned. Broward and dade have best teams in the state most of the time and it’s because of recruiting. True The fhsaa let’s Polk county run away from metro schools with bs density change. True the fhsaa ignores recruiting and even when they busy a team nothing real happens. True The real fixes to make competitive divisions like throw privates in own division is illegal in Florida and mo one agrees on any other fox like promotion. True columbia posts more than anyone else’s true. naples will go further than Columbia in 3s. We will see

I have seen many cases where the fhsaa busts a school for blatant recruiting violations and teams still gets to play in playoffs with recruited players so they are basically saying it’s ok even if by laws say it isn’t. So if no enforcement the. Make all teams with over four transfers in a year play 8a. Let cheaters beat each other up .

The Lakeland Polk being suburban and lee being suburban is pure corruption. As far as suburban competitiveness. Madison wins for sure it’s division. cocoa wins for fun it’s division Naples wins venice Lakewood or Osceola wins big division boy is that some parity to justify dumb suburban idea. Some rotten schools get to get beat by 60 by cocoa in semis and finals

Maybe we will got to a third break up once all the same teams win in suburban as well.We can call it kicking country metro suburban and somehow get Polk county and Lakeland away from Venice and Osceola.

Columbia. Your school did fine under old system why the need to change when Madison is still in your way.

In a perfect world. The fhsaa would actually punish recruiting but they can’t because of open enrollment so their hands tied but they could promote all super teams to 8a and let them bash each other’s heads In instead of the rest of the state

I just have some ideas other state use. We know the good ole boy network in Florida will keep taking care of Lakewood at all other schools cost. Promotion and demotion would be allowed under Florida laws

One last bash of suburban. How shady was it that the plan was conveniently changed to make it population density instead Olof population. Polk has one of the highest transfer cheating recruiting rates in state but made suburban for political reasons even they have a much higher population than many metro counties. Coincidence. Many states have dealt with the same super cheater teams who dominate. Here is some ideas done in other states. Private divisions and public. Multiplier with transfer students where the team get pushed to higher classifications if they have so many transfers. Promotion of elite teams to higher levels so cheaters get to play each other in same division. You finish in top 8 two years in a row. Welcome to next division. These are pretty easy to implode t and would help all teams not just a few elites already

In most metro areas, only a few teams are big recruiting schools. Which broward public is any good? So your logic is that all teams should recruit and since it’s easier in big metro cities. Screw anyone who does not and separate. So that’s what high school sports is about and the morals we should teach. 90% of all schools in Florida have zero chance of a state championship. The collateral damage is metro schools squeezed into four divisions creating some crazy enrollment differences and putting the non recruiting schools in impossible districts. The new plan does even taint the metro title a little since not a state title but metro schools did not push for this idea and they do win most of title especially dade county and broward privates.

Last time mainland played Naples it got ugly. Mainland will be one of the few who could beat them. Kramer not head coach there but the team seems about the same. Naples gave Central and Northwestern some tough games but could not get over the hump. They should be favorites with maybe two others. Cocoa has no competition. If Venice is anything like last year no competition except from super recruiter Lakeland and maybe Osceola. When I say triple a. I am not ripping these great schools. I am ripping dumb suburban idea in general where state made them second rate and ruined state champ idea. State just needed some balls and enforce a one year ban on transfers if not really moving in. Idea of getting parity was propaganda as we will see same schools win every year in suburban in Most divisions . Blow up system so a few annual state finalists or semi finalist get to get trophy seems dumb to me .

The suburban state title is like winning a triple A title in Major League Baseball. King of the the dipshots.

The same 6-7 teams in suburban will dominate just like the 6-7 teams who win state every year in old class system. Wont be done dramatic diversity of state champs every year. The teams who win will be teams who get to semi finals or state finals now. They just won’t have super dade and broward private schools stopping them from rings so they will win all the time .

My take on you analysis is that listing a few star rated players on various 3s teams and seeing how numerous have some star rated players makes me feel you are not a real knowledge fan or coach of the sport. 3 s will be won by Naples High School and it will be a total shock if they don’t. They only lose to super teams from Northwestern or Miami Central in 6a now. 3s will be a snooze for them and they can start ordering their state rings along with cocoa in they substandard minor league division.

The state legislator who wanted open enrollment and to end fhsaa because her hometown Lakeland team who got punished for recruiting finally has gotten her dream to come true. Lakeland can legally recruit now. Plus. The idiot fhsaa board members allowed one of the most populace counties Polk to be in crap second gate divisions suburban.

This is the same brilliant people who gave us a playoff system a few years ago where the loser of a game earned more playoffs points than the winner of the game or at least the same number. I never trust these power rankings because someone has a formula that benefits what they think is important. So last year it was 1/3 record. 1/3 opponents record, and 1/3 opponents opponents. I see the first 2 parts but the third seemed a stretch and way to hard to predict when scheduling unless you put ST. Thomas Aquinas on the schedule.
