  1. I am definitely for School Choice, for school at any point in a student's development no matter the grade. But unless the family moves into the zoned school, athletes sit a year and all the consequences that were previously in place follow.
  2. AGREED!! What is even shadier is "SCHOOL CHOICE". What genius handed us that mess.
  3. School Choice being the elephant in the room, the FHSAA has nothing but poor options. That said, does one prefer a system where now a few more shitty teams make the playoffs that are still won by those with strong programs. Or the UP/DOWN offered by some where the bottom two classifications are only the shitty teams with 2 of them actually WINNING A TITLE. Given these two options or the do nothing one, big numbers of folks will be unhappy. Or maybe you had a different plan.
  4. This individual isn't brave enough to show who he is speaking for and thinks his barbs against strong suburban programs diminish all their accomplishments. All the while being perfectly happy competing against losers and collecting a consolation prize in the proposal he supports.
  5. Some of these posters believing Pakokee is recruiting from the metro area just showing their ignorance.
  6. That supposedly wouldn't pass. Joke forecast.
  7. Dillard, a proud school with lots of talent and lot of athletic success is a stone's throw from STA. As are others that get cherry picked. Most are waking up to that fact and are fighting back. If the kid hasn't taken up resident with another family member, friend or whatever they aren't doing a long commute. Big city density allows for that not to be necessary.
  8. This is a valid concern and hopefully going forward more tweaking can be done. However, according to the 2020 census Alachua had about 280,000 not over 400,000 but still a significant disparity. Most kids that jump schools are an easy drive away, generally 10 miles or less but hardly ever exceeding 20 miles. Your Pahokee example is not strong although it does reside in a highly populated county as a daily commute would probably exceed 40 miles each way if someone wanted to leave Palm Beach area to attend school there. Highly unlikely they are achieving their football success from a bunch of high profile transfers each and every year.
  9. I do not know who the proponents of this plan are or the reasoning they put forward for achieving competitive balance. No plan under the current rules is going to make everyone happy and will certainly piss of some. As I have stated previously, this plan does not address the underlying problems of School Choice or private school advantages over publics. But of the two plans I have read about on this forum, I do see it addressing the numbers advantage in talent possessed by the large metro areas when you are operating under the School Choice formula. I don't know if our county has ever had a 5* recruit and rarely 4* in any numbers. The Metro areas have them every year it seems with multiple 4*, so this plan is trying to mitigate that advantage. In any event, even though some genius on this forum claimed it had zero chance of passing it has and only time will tell how it will play out.
  10. Easy answer, ALL OF THE ABOVE! Now for the real question, what scouts would bother attending the consolation game for the losers category in your plan.
  11. Perspective, who is your question addressed to?
  12. Not two years ago and only a 1 pt. victory in overtime this year. It could have gone either way and I am sure Darter would agree.
  13. More blattering as somehow college scouts managed to find Derrick Henry in Yulee of all places.
  14. I reckon this gentleman just pissed off a bunch of the Seminole fans in my local area for the 4A title. Who knows what the schools in Jax are thinking along with a few others in Miami as Columbus squeaked by Palmetto. The other Metro's are probable but unlikely anyone challenging STA consistently. I see all the Suburban having many more possibilities.
  15. None of the schools I highlighted will view it as a B track title. That is only your view, but all these schools I highlighed will most definitely look at titles under the program you favor as a consolation prize, not a title. You keep crying about the difference in school size and I would guess that Pahokee, Trenton, Madison and so many other 2A or 3A schools would regularly beat up on your 6A school which you are not willing to identify. We have fought tooth and nail against STA in finals, losing but not making excuses. You want a disparity? I read several years ago that for 15 straight years every single OL from STA receive some type of a scholarship to college. The games are won in the trenches and no school in Florida could have made a claim like that back when. Today, more and more of these privates in big Metros are fielding teams that can match that and NO suburban school can acquire that level of talent at the line of scrimmage. Keep believing your team can't compete against the top teams and you will full fill that prediction groveling in mediocrity.
  16. Hey, we are talking about dozens of teams with a winning heritage that have challenged for championships and even won some. Pine Forest, Escambia, Pensacola Washington, Niceville, Wakulla, Columbia, St. Augustine, Manatee, Sarasota Riverview, Naples, Cocoa, Rockledge, Merritt Island, Lake Gibson, Mainland and many others. Yes, it also includes Lakeland, Venice and Osceola. We don't want to avoid Apopka, DP, Seminole, Columbus and other championship contenders as we regularly schedule them in the past and will do so in 2022. You want to demean these teams with a winning culture dating back way before the transfer became an issue. But instead have a consolation prize for whatever school you represent with no such track record. Best to take your own advice and go independent.
  17. Don't you just love the "Fake Suburban Title" argument from those that favored the other plan. The plan they admit would have a third top quality teams, a third average quality teams and a third poor quality teams. Win two titles in the poor quality teams category and that is an accomplishment. NO FAKE TITLE here.
  18. This shit is funny as I am curious to know who started pushing for this plan in the first place. Someone knows and they could have formed a lobby most likely to get away from STA.
  19. No sense waiting for that call, looks like the verdict is in and your plan has been "RELEGATED" to the file for later analysis.
  20. That's an interesting twist as that justification could roll us into a Metro grouping as well. Seminole is over 400K while we are just below that threshold. Pros and cons to every conceivable plan with the restrictions that exist.
