  1. Put a little Storify Storyboard together to highlight some of the spring football action to take place on Day 1. Working on a couple of things that I hope to have out in the next few hours. LINK: http://flhsfb.us/SpringFootball2015
  2. We will see what happens in Tallahassee.....things could change quickly on how transfers are handled depending on pending legislation and if the Governor was to act on if it passed through the legislature.
  3. I don't think they will cancel....besides I know the AD personally. Old high school classmate/friend of mine. He is trying to make things better as he just took the job a few months ago and he is really good at what he does. And the hiring of head coach though I think is being made by the principal so we will see what happens there.
  4. You can go to your profile by either clicking on the image next to your post or go to the top of the page and find your username displayed and drop down and go to my profile. From there in the right hand corner you will see a button for Edit my profile. You can edit your user display name, but NOT your user login. Hope this helps.
  5. Now have quotes from FHSAA Executive Director, Dr. Roger Dearing on the passage of HB 7137.
  6. John Timmins, who was previously the head coach at Archbishop McCarthy and Palm Beach Central has now been hired at Cardinal Newman per Wells Dusenberry at ESPN 106.3 in West Palm Beach. What do you all think of the hire? Discuss.
  7. Received quotes from Stuart Weiss of the Sunshine State Athletic Conference....waiting on quotes now from Dr. Roger Dearing at the FHSAA.
  8. Well the house has pushed forward in passing HB 7137 and it now waits on the Senate to make a decision to either vote on the bill as is, refer it to committee or try to work out any differences. I am also in the process of getting quotes from Dr. Dearing at the FHSAA (which has been against the bill) and from Stu Weiss at the Sunshine State Athletic Conference (which has been for the bill), so updates will come.
  9. Yep...just posted an article on the site about it.
  10. Somehow the function of posting tweets was not working properly, but we have it now working to where if you ever want to share a tweet on here in relation to your post, all you have to do is have the URL (link) of the tweet, paste into your message and then it will automatically embed like you will see below.
  11. Not sure....might have to take a look at this. To be honest, I don't follow much on Athletic Director openings unless the head football coaching job is tied to it as it is in some areas around the state.
  12. It added the language which was originally not included when the bill was first introduced and caused a lot of concerns. At least now we know we are not going to let kids that are failing to be some how eligible. I know the current rule is there, but a lot of folks complained about it missing which indeed it was because I couldn't even find the GPA requirements in the bill. I guess finally someone forced the hand to make sure it was written in the bill. Also from someone else I have talked to who has watched this bill extensively said it seems the FHSAA will be safe as the organization running the show, but they seem to be looking to transform some policies that have been needing a change as indicative of the Board of Directors Agenda for the meeting this coming Monday.
  13. Well HB 7137 is moving right along, which is the furtherest any bill to drastically alter the FHSAA and the HS athletics landscape has gotten in the last few years. As of today three new amendments to the bill that include a much clearer picture of how transfers can be eligible and outlines a set GPA to be maintained (one of the key points I pointed out in the first draft of this bill that was missing, which set of an angry firestorm), plus laying out terms of what different things mean. Now the bill is up for a 3rd reading meaning either is going to get voted on and get passed by the House or its going to die. Since there is a Senate companion bill that is in the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education that is working its way through and i would not be surprised at all if these two bills are merged together and combined and likely to pass the way things are looking. If you are interested in tracking the bill you can go here: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2015/7137/ByVersion
  14. After eight seasons spanning over two tenures, Elijah Williams has resigned as head coach. Read more at the link below and share your thoughts here. Read more: http://floridahsfootball.com/2015/04/15/oak-ridges-elijah-williams-resigns-head-coach/
  15. In consideration of launching a podcast. Here is the question I posed on Twitter Question: What do you look for in a podcast or what would you want to see in a podcast? Give me your feedback on this.
  16. Some folks have floated this idea, but its never going to happen because then you are going to have the smaller schools always getting smashed by the bigger schools. This is the exact reason we have classifications.
  17. From what it appears, Niceville host Bassfield, MS this fall, a 3-time defending state champion this fall to help fill its schedule. Read more here or discuss here: http://floridahsfootball.com/2015/03/17/niceville-host-3-time-defending-missisissppi-state-champion-fall/
  18. Florida HS Football Daily is a new feature that is designed to bring you quick news tidbits related to high school football to you each day. Here is the first one: http://floridahsfootball.com/2015/03/16/florida-hs-football-daily-march-16-2015/
  19. Working on a list of kickoff classics as we speak. Won't post the list until after spring football is over with.
  20. Every team will have a team page so we are talking over 550 teams. Historical features will be added on once every team page is built out. There will be a process to building the historical pages, but gives you an insight of where we plan to take the team pages and football vault to. This will not be an overnight process. There is still a lot of work to be done in the coming months, weeks and years ahead on this.
  21. Hey everyone! Been busy dealing with things for the site (some of you all have seen in the works already) and some stuff behind the scenes. Behind the scenes stuff I can't really dive into at this time, but when the time is right, you will know about it. For the stuff going on here is what is coming down the line: 1. Team Pages have launched - The new team pages section (teams.floridahsfootball.com) is online and rolling out new team pages almost daily. I have a stack mile long for 2015 schedules, so I am rolling out new pages as fast as I can. The idea behind the team pages is to provide current info, plus provide a place for historical information to come together. This will always be a work in progress and will never be a fully completed project. If you want to help contribute let me know. 2. Dynasty Rankings - The 2nd Annual Florida HS Football Dynasty Rankings will be out towards the end of the month. Reducing it down from a Top 200 to Top 100 list this year. I have already compiled the list which is going to see some shifts. Question is can St. Thomas Aquinas over take Bolles as the top Dynasty Team this year? We shall see. 3. If you got any news or tips to share feel free to email at my email address listed below. This will make sure I stay on top of what is going on around the state. If you got any comments or suggestions please feel free to let me know as well! Thanks!
  22. It takes the last 10 years into account so the 2004 season will drop off for this year's rankings with the 2014 season being added on. Speaking of such those rankings will be coming towards the end of the month. I have already compiled them and there are quite a few shifts up and down the ladder. I am still in the process of how to split this up to be able to present. I am close, but not ready to release until all the grouping presentations are ready to roll out.
