  1. Despite the lack of success for Buster Davis, he has found a new home to be a head coach at, taking over for Tim Smith at Port Orange Atlantic in Volusia County. Davis was previously at Hollywood McArthur this past season. The area is a familiar one for Davis, who graduated from Mainland High early last decade as an All-State Linebacker and went to play for FSU, earning All-ACC honors there. Davis spent a few years in the NFL after being drafted in third round of the NFL Draft in 2007. Read more at the link below and discuss here. 2. Wakulla, will boost their schedule up for the 2015 season by hosting a nationally ranked team from the 2014 season. Spartanburg and Wakulla agreed to a game contract earlier today, but the date of the game and who would possibly televise the game are the last two things to be hammered out in the deal. Read up and then discuss your thoughts on here. Read more at the link here: http://floridahsfootball.com/2015/02/03/wakulla-host-spartanburg-sc-open-2015-season/
  3. Should add there is an off topic board now, that way things outside the sports world can have its own home here. Also ideas for other boards are welcome. Can do a lot here, so let me know what you would like to see.
  4. You guys might see there have been some new things added on to the message boards in the last 24 hours. First, we have launched a Coaches ONLY message board. Coaches can get access by following the guidelines to gain access to the message board on the main page of the forums. There is also a classifieds section that will allow coaches to post for different things like games wanted, jobs and more. Second, there are now classification boards for each class as well as one for the independents. When a topic is more specific to a particular district in a certain classification, this would be the best place to post instead of the Varsity Board which could be more wide open. When it involves teams from multiple classes, the Varsity Board will be the place to post overall. Let you friends know about our new features and tell them to sign up for free here
  5. Well since Branford has left the district, but that won't matter much at this point. Would have just meant six guaranteed games and not five. Trenton and Dixie County are the two favorites at this point, but I still think anything could happen in 1A at this point.
  6. Orlando Olympia has hired Kyle Hayes to take over as head coach starting for the 2015 season. Hayes comes from Flanagan High where he helped lead the Falcons to the Class 8A State Semifinals. Read more at the link below and share your thoughts here: LINK: http://floridahsfootball.com/2015/02/02/olympia-hires-flanagan-assistant-head-coaching-position/
  7. A proposed bill set to be heard in committee's when the legislative session opens in Tallahassee come March could fund high school athletics. A proposed 25 cent surcharge fee would be added to each professional sports ticket sold in the state and the fee would in help fund high school athletics for traditional public high schools and charter schools. 8. Finalized districts are out from the FHSAA: http://www.fhsaa.org/sports/football/assignments Discuss below your thoughts!
  9. Rocco Casullo is out as the head coach at St. Thomas Aquinas. Not much is being said why he is no longer the head coach, but speculation includes a variety of scenarios. However, the whole thing is now that the Raiders will be searching for a new head coach (if the search hasn't been done already). Will be fun watching this unfold in the coming days and weeks ahead.
  10. Community School of Naples has been added to Class 2A, so the classification bounces back up one to 29 teams. Still, not going to make a huge dent as still over half the teams will advance to the playoffs if this holds.
  11. So Class 2A is officially down to 28 teams on the tentative assignments. Jupiter Christian finally withdrew their commitment and St. Joseph wants no part of the district they were given either. So 16 playoff spots and 28 teams = 57% of the class in the playoffs....this is not even fair.
  12. Having driven through all of these towns personally, Madison is way bigger. However, we shall see what happens on this.
  13. Folks, Madison qualified as numbers are under 600, so throwing them under is not totally fair. However, there are several others over 600 that are in so want to hear what the FHSAA has to say on that one.
  14. So to update, some changes have been made to a few Class 1A districts as of this afternoon. District 5 3 schools Hamilton County (Jasper) Jefferson County (Monticello) Madison County (Madison) District 6 7 schools Baldwin Bell Fort White Hilliard Newberry Union County (Lake Butler) Williston District 7 7 schools Branford Bronson Chiefland Dixie County (Cross City) Hawthorne Lafayette (Mayo) Trenton Share your thoughts about these changes here.
  15. At this rate I am not sure what to expext other than we got a big mess on our hands it seems.
  16. I had a feeling a coach would see this and chime in. That is what I thought you all would do once you all saw this.
  17. This problem would have been avoided if they had just placed the classification policy for review on the FHSAA BOD agenda back in November.
  18. From what I have been told by several very reliable sources is that we could see some changes to the tentative assignments as early as tomorrow. What is might entail or what this might mean since the December release, I don't know. However, some changes are already apparent on the tentative assignments list that was originally released back in December. What i do know is this: Is that 2A which had 33 teams assigned to the classification is down to 29 teams. Agape Christian (2A-4) is out leaving that district to just Victory Christian and Foundation Academy. Agape appears they are doing away with football altogether as they are not listed with the independents. St. Francis in Gainesville which was exploring to go into a district (assigned to 2A-1) has effectively dropped back to independent status as they have been the last two years. That leaves the district with North Florida Christian and FAMU as the only two teams. Canterbury in St. Petersburg (assigned to 2A-6) has departed to the independents as they are heading to the Sunshine State Athletic Conference (SSAC). That district is left with just three teams in Indian Rocks Christian, Northside Christian and Admiral Farragut. Also Jupiter Christian (assigned to 2A-8) has announced they are going to the SSAC as well. However, they haven't been removed from the assignment and placed into the independents, according to the list on the FHSAA website. And Cocoa Beach has left Class 4A (assigned to 4A-5) and will play independent for the next cycle as well. But the sticking point was going to be Class 2A. If enough teams were to drop out it would force the FHSAA's hand to readdress the whole entire tentative assignments. Needless to say we are here at the pinnacle moment. If the FHSAA leaves this alone as is no matter the amount of appeals or not that they get in by next week, it will show that competitive reasons do not matter. I hope they are really looking at this and looking at all avenues, even considering cutting a class or two or otherwise the next four years will be filled with more lopsided games and fans will certainly lose interest if this is the case. However, stay tuned here as more could come out on this in the next few days.
  19. The AP All-State teams are coming out this week. Our own All-State, All-Region and All-Elite teams will not be out until at the end of this month at the earliest.
  20. Districts have not been finalized and will not be until 7-10 business days after January 15th which is the appeals deadline. However, there is rumblings that there could be some big changes, but what they might entail, I am not sure of at this point.
  21. Been watching this game....speed kills. Trinity Christian is just doing an amazing job with the game today.
  22. Everything is watered down here. Not really thrilled about this. Will discuss more on this over the coming days.
  23. New districts can be found here: http://floridahsfootball.com/2014/12/15/fhsaa-proposed-tentative-football-assignments-2015-2018/
