FLAG FOOTBALL RANKINGS: Class 1A Top 25 Rankings heading into Week 6

Each week during the season we update the Top 25 rankings in Class 1A providing our Top 10 teams as well as provide The Next 15 teams that we have ranked to complete the Top 25 rankings. Information used to determine the rankings include record, quality wins, defeating ranked opponents and strength of schedule. It is important that teams update their information with scores with us on a regular basis each week by emailing us score reports at flag@floridahsfootball.com, sending us a direct message on Twitter @FlaHSFootball or updating scores in the ScoreStream app.  Lack of information (scores) reported by the teams will only hurt their chances of being ranked, especially if they are having a solid season.

1. Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach)
Record:
7-0
Last Week: 2
Quality Wins: Niceville, Miami Jackson, Dr. Phillips
The Buzz: Choctawhatchee showed why they are the top team right now in the state over the weekend at the Capital City Classic, handling things against Miami Jackson and coming from behind on Dr. Phillips which would have placed them in the Gold Bracket championship before weather-shortened things in Tallahassee.

2. Robinson (Tampa)
Record: 7-1
Last Week: 1
Quality Wins: Bloomingdale, Plant, Rickards
The Buzz: The Lincoln bug hit again for the first time in two-years as the Knights fell to Lincoln 7-6 in the opening game at the Capital City Classic. However, a win earlier in the week against Plant and a win over Rickards in the second game at the Capital City Classic only makes the fall soft and not hard in the rankings.

3. Miami Edison
Record:
5-0
Last Week: 4
Quality Wins: None
The Buzz: The Red Raiders finally got back on the field this past week taking down Miami Northwestern and Miami Springs to stay undefeated on the season. However, could the weak games come back to hurt them later on, potentially in the playoffs, as they are a lock for the No. 1 seed in District 1A-15?

4. Godby (Tallahassee)
Record:
7-1
Last Week: 3
Quality Wins: Lincoln, Madison County, Rickards, Florida High, Miami Jackson
The Buzz: This was a tough choice to move Godby down a spot, but they are still a great team that just had some mishaps against a quality Dr. Phillips team in the opener of the Capital City Classic. However, they bounced back strongly with a big win against Miami Jackson in their second game at the tournament.

5. Jensen Beach
Record:
7-0
Last Week: 5
Quality Wins:
Glades Central
The Buzz: The Falcons remain undefeated after being tested by a very tough and physical Glades Central team last week. With that win and the win over Pahokee, they have wrapped up the No. 1 seed for the District 1A-11 tournament in two weeks even with one remaining district game against Avon Park this week.

6. Clay (Green Cove Springs)
Record:
6-0
Last Week: 7
Quality Wins: None
The Buzz: Clay picked up two more wins this past week with wins over Baldwin and Florida Deaf & Blind to keep the record unblemished. However, the biggest test comes this week against Orange Park. A win over the Raiders will look in the No. 1 seed for the District 1A-4 tournament.

7. Harmony
Record: 8-0
Last Week: 6
Quality Wins: Apopka, Jones
The Buzz: The Longhorns got a good scare from a much-improved Jones team last week, but bounced back nicely against Poinciana the next night to remain undefeated and claiming the No. 1 seed for the District 1A-10 tournament.

8. Pembroke Pines Charter
Record:
10-0
Last Week: 8
Quality Wins: Everglades
The Buzz: Pines Charter has two games remaining on the season in district play as they are in the huge District 1A-13. The biggest question will be if the Jaguars can lock up the No. 1 seed. Boyd Anderson is the only other team remaining in the district without a loss, so this game is critical to what holds for the remainder of the season.

9. Boyd Anderson (Lauderdale Lakes)
Record: 9-0
Last Week: 22
Quality Wins: None
The Buzz: Yep, we have slept on Boyd Anderson most of this season, but we are making up for it here as they are very close to locking up at least a top two seed in District 1A-13 and poised to be the biggest threat to Pembroke Pines Charter’s undefeated streak right now. We will get our answer as to if this move was a good move or not later this week. The biggest riser in the rankings this week.

10. Glades Central (Belle Glade)
Record:
5-1
Last Week: 10
Quality Wins: None
The Buzz: Glades Central played very close to a tough Jensen Beach team and a big reason why we are not moving them out of the Top 10. They bounced back easily, taking care of business against a growing Lake Placid program.

The Next 15
Rank, Team (City), record, previous ranking

15. Miami Jackson, 5-2, 9
16. Suncoast (Riviera Beach), 7-0, 20
17. Stanton (Jacksonville), 8-0, NR
18. Florida High (Tallahassee), 5-2, 13

23. Belleview, 7-1, NR
24. Orange Park, 5-1, NR
