GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Legacy Team Sales of Ocala, FloridaHSFootball.com and ThePrepZone.com are excited to announce the 2018 North Central Florida All-Star Classic presented by Legacy Team Sales.  The exhibition showcases the best senior football players from 35 area schools located in counties as far north as Columbia County and as far south as Hernando County.

The game will be held at Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala on Friday, December 14.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $8.

Highlighting the North All-Star Team will be Hawthorne running back Uveekie Fields, who helped lead the Hornets (12-1) to the Class 1A state semifinals. Fields averaged 10.1 yards per carry this year for the Hornets and finished with 21 rushing scores.

The head coach for the North is Marcus McDonald of P.K Yonge. In 2018, McDonald led the Blue Wave to a 10-win season, including their first playoff victory since 2004.

McDonald will be joined by his offensive coordinator, Jim Akins, Dock Pollard of Santa Fe (Alachua), Cedderick Daniels of Eastside (Gainesville), Scott McDaniel of St. Francis Catholic (Gainesville), Joey Whittington (Bell), and R.J. Fuhr of Oak Hall (Gainesville).

All of the North’s coaches were head coaches at their respective school except for Akins. Santa Fe, Eastside, St. Francis Catholic and Oak Hall all advanced to the state playoffs this season.

Highlighting the South All-Star Team will be Nature Coast Tech (Brooksville) running back Mike Weston, who helped lead the Sharks (11-2) to the Class 5A-Region 2 Final.  The senior rushed for 2,893 yards and 34 touchdowns.

The head coach for the South is Edwin Farmer of Vanguard (Ocala). Farmer led the Knights to the Class 6A Region 2 Final in 2018, plus back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons.

He will be joined by Dunnellon assistant coach Josh Burkhardt, Jeremiah Gates of Trinity Catholic, and Vanguard assistants Devon Jenkins, Chris Bennett, Tyrell Munnerlyn, and Derrick Smith.

The NFHS Network will originate a ‘live’ video stream of the game.  There is a $9.95 subscription to watch the game ‘live.’  However, there is no fee to access the archive of the game after 72 hours.  All fans have to do is sign up for a free account at www.NFHSNetwork.com.

The game will also be broadcast on local radio in Gainesville (92.1 FM) & Ocala (900 AM), with free ‘live’ audio available at www.ThePrepZone.com. Coverage of the game begins at 7 p.m. and will be joined in progress on the radio at 7:15 p.m.

Marty Pallman, who broadcasts Bishop Kenny (Jacksonville) football and postseason football for the NFHS Network, will handle play-by-play of the game.  A select number of coaches will serve as ‘color’ commentators throughout the broadcast.
