St. Johns Country Day has finished its season after playing just one game in a 54-0 loss to Munroe Day this past Friday night.
The news from the Orange Park-based private school, which was first reported by Randy Lefko at the Clay Today, released a statement by Athletic Director Traci Livingston explaining the decision to end the season:
The Spartans were scheduled to host Joshua Christian this week but will now send them and six other remaining opponents including Bishop McLaughlin, Georgia Christian, Seven Rivers Christain, West Oaks Academy, Saint Francis Catholic, and Zarephath Academy searching for new opponents in what is already becoming an unpredictable season just less than two weeks in.
