ALL-STATE FOOTBALL: 2024 Class 4A All-State Football Award Winners

It is time to honor the best of the best among our All-State Honorees with our All-State Awards Selections. With the selections we have five award winners with Overall Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Specialist of the Year, and Coach of the Year.

While it is hard to just pick just one selection. All the athletes and coaches considered for each of the selections are very deserving of the honors.

Without further ado, here are the winners for the 2024 FloridaHSFootball.com All-State Team Awards for Class 4A and congratulations to all our award winners!

CLASS 4A OVERALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

WR Malachi Toney, American Heritage (Plantation), Jr.

Toney was not just a dynamic athlete at wide receiver, he also made his presence known in other aspects of the offense as well as the defensive side of the ball. Toney, to his credit hauled in 58 receptions for 1,008 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. In addition to that he spent time at quarterback going 38-of-53 passing for 524 yads and eight touchdowns, especially serving in that role when quarterback Dia Bell was injured during the playoffs. Toney also added 224 yards rushing on 34 carries and three touchdowns, plus recorded nine tackles and interception on defense, helping lead the Patriots to the Class 4A State Championship.

CLASS 4A OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

QB Dereon Coleman, Jones (Orlando), Jr.

Leading the Tigers to deepest playoff run since 2019, Coleman went 203-of-279 passing for 3,412 yards throwing 28 touchdowns against just four interceptions. Coleman also accounted for 455 yards rushing on 74 carries and four touchdowns. Coleman is a Miami Hurricanes commit for the 2026 classification.

CLASS 4A DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DL Omarian Abraham, American Heritage (Plantation), Sr.

If you wanted some to cause trouble for an opposing offense, you wanted Abraham on your line and that is what the Patriots had as they clinched the Class 4A State Championship game. To his credit, Abraham recorded 88 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and nine sacks. Abraham’s presence on the field with his size certainly made other quarterback and running backs cringe, especially when he was able to break into the backfield all season long.

CLASS 4A SPECIALIST OF THE YEAR

K Gavin Harvey, American Heritage (Plantation), Sr.

You couldn’t find any more accurate of a kicker in Class 4A than Harvey, converting 10-of-11 field goals made with his longest being of 48 yards. On PATs, Harvey was 50-of-52 in all 14 games played during the season. On kickoffs, Harvey had a 52.5 yard average and had 14 total touchbacks on 68 kickoffs made in 2024.

CLASS 4A COACH OF THE YEAR

Mike Smith, American Heritage (Plantation)

It was two years removed since American Heritage (Plantation) played in the state championship game and it was four years removed since the Patriots last won a state championship. As such in his third season, Smith finally wins his first state championship as head coach, guiding the Patriots through a tough national schedule and a playoff course that some challengers along the way including a very competitive and talented Jones team that gave them everything in the Class 4A State Championship game.
