  1. That is correct. They will beat Evans easily. But will struggle to beat Carol City.
  2. Are you trying to say Columbia has a Columbia bias? !
  3. Josh, I am very glad to hear that. The points based system is not bad per se. However, an analysis of how it is actually working this year through 7 weeks brings up some concerns. Hopefully, some fixes will be implemented for next year and beyond.
  4. I think that dude is dead. Your board has been invaded by the Slaps from the old Florida Varsity Board.
  5. Whatever happened, happened. Apopka got the win. So at this stage it does not matter anymore. If Norland was stupid enough to sacrifice points when they still had a realistic chance to comeback and win the game, and if this is what separates them from the playoffs, then they got what they deserved.
  6. Sure, no system is perfect. However, if based on the current points allocation it becomes obvious that there are serious issues which could make the new system even worse than what existed before, then it behooves management to make necessary adjustments to at least make the new system no worse than the previous one. For the most part, I have supported the change from District Champ/Runner up, to a points based system. And, I will continue to do so provided the points based system yields decent results. However, if it does not, and proper adjustments are not made, then I would just as soon go back to the old system with minor modifications. These modifications could be as simple as requiring a minimum of four teams per district. Or if that is not feasible due to travel considerations in some cases, giving only the district champ a guaranteed playoff spot in the case of a three team district, with the remaining spot(s) in the region to be based on either overall won/loss records or points based on strength of schedule.
  7. Exactly. Even if it works itself out this year, if kept the way it is without some very thoughtful adjustments, it is only a matter of time before we get absurd situations. I am not sure whether I trust the FHSAA to do the kind of analysis necessary to fix things in one or two seasons. Hope I am wrong on this.
  8. I agree. If we end up keeping a points system, then adjustments will have to be made. If you play against and lose to a "National Caliber" type team, especially if you keep the game close, you should not get fewer points than if you beat down Cypress Creek by 50 points. If those adjustments are not made, scheduling will become a big issue, particularly in parts of the state where there are not that many elite teams. Another solution may be to create a "super class" where high caliber teams can choose to play in. Not sure if I like this idea though, as I could see a number of problems coming from this.
  9. This is certainly of the things in the new system that coaching staffs will have to adjust to when scheduling. Playing tough teams can backfire big time now, particularly in the lower classes that don't have districts. If you play the best, you have to beat them or be on the outside looking in.
  10. I agree. I think they are a more complete team. However, I think Cocoa wins a State Title and BT does not. You sometimes win an important battle but not the war.
  11. I thought only old, retired folks lived in Avon Park?
  12. Slow news day, perhaps? Or maybe it was to send a message?
  13. Apopka by 21. It could be closer as it is homecoming week and Apopka just played two games in three days.
  14. There is obvious dysfunction in the program. I can see a kid or two not showing for anything from a valid reason to indiscipline. To have so many not show is indicative of a breakdown in the program. In general it is a privilege to represent your school and should be treated as such by the student athlete. Not being at all familiar with Choctaw, I can't comment further.
  15. No way Apopka beats WO by 41. Gonna be closer than that.
  16. The Slaps (morphs) are about to run wild on this website! I thought they had all migrated north.
  17. You are right. I am sorry; I did not see them the first time I looked. I was very impressed with their defensive effort against DP. They totally shut them down. If they had a more dynamic offense, I would give them a great chance of making a very deep playoff run.
  18. Wekiva needs to be in the top 100. They are better than at least half of the teams you have in the second 50. Of this I am 100% sure.
  19. Yes, I understand that. But the FHSAA has a contract with Maxpreps, now. As such, you would think that they would change the way the system works to fulfill its obligation. But even if this were not so, if you represent yourself as providing accurate information, you should do better. Either that or state a clear disclaimer on your website with regards the accuracy of any information posted. A lot of individuals use Maxpreps thinking the data is reasonably accurate.
  20. Not sure I agree that McCray is better than Washington. They are different quarterbacks in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I feel Washington has/had more upside potential at the position. However, I do believe McCray is more creative. His style of play reminds me of Nick Patti's when he was at DP.
