  1. Blountstown won 33-6. Not to take anything away from Blountstown but there aren't many decent teams that wouldn't have beaten PSJ last night.  I don't think I have ever seen a team so disinterested in a game.  With a win St Joe could have clinched the district and now they have to win next week just to get into a 3 way shootout and I really don't think they care.  I don't know if they may just be burned out from two straight runs to the championship game or what.  There is a definite lack of leadership from the few Seniors that they have.  The normally tough D was not tackling other than 3 or 4 players that gave their all.The QB who gets rattled under pressure was holding the ball way too long or being wildly inaccurate.  The play calling made no sense at all.  Our "star" senior running back and our best overall Offensive/defensive lineman are both likely out for several weeks.  Basically what I'm saying is I don't think PSJ will make the playoffs this year and if they happen to they won't make it past the second round. Baker looks to be the best team in the North followed by Blountstown.

  2. It's basically a national football playoff bracket I'm doing

I'm holding votes to determine who advance so we can have a national champ so to speak

I'm thinking that after the season I might do one for Florida

I really don't know much about the national scene, heck I'm limited on my knowledge of Florida teams outside of my panhandle, big bend and the Tampa area

  3. Franklin/Apalachicola/Carabelle has always had kids that won't go to workouts, off-season or in-season, parents who support their kids lack of work ethic, and administrations that blame the head coach first for kids not performing to the high expectations of the parents (the same ones that are ok with their kids skipping workouts and practices). Used to be that when the oyster harvest time came in, half the team disappeared to "work" with their dads or uncles, etc. I don't know what the excuse is now that the business has dried-up. It is an absolute dead-end career-killer of a job.

The coach this year had kids that missed summer workouts run after practice and was told he could not punish them like that. I have never seen a place that fights success the way the administration does there, but if the community wasn't happy with it they would make changes. Many people from there have moved to Port St Joe for the schools in general.

  4. Well...I don't things can get much worse for Franklin County.  They will lose to Oak Hall this week and hopefully can finish the season on a positive note with a Home win versus Wewahitchka.....

Franklin has some talent issues but the lack of consistency in coaching is awful.  They have had some qualified coaches but no patience in allowing them to build a team.  They have 2 former FSU players 1 with NFL time and 1 with CFL time on staff so maybe one of them will get 3 or 4 years to make something happen.

  5. Seems like newberry is still doing less with more. They are probably the biggest team ive seen in a few years. Its like they have only a 6 play playbook.

A lot of teams would be better if they only had six plays.  So many times I see teams that if they could get a handful of plays down pat they would be much more competitive.  I'm not really familiar with Newberry's offense but sometimes simple is best.

  6. I don't know what the motive was and any loss of life is tragic but to lose a man that is giving his time to mold boys into men is especially sad.  whoever killed him had no regard for the players with him. Exposure to this sort of violence will scar these boys for life. I don't know if there is an answer but we are losing way too many men in the prime of their life.
