  1. Kind of hard to judge, Fan. We defeated 6A Leesburg,in the Spring Game and lost to 7A Buchholz in the KO Classic 26-20. Our 1st game of the season was washed out and our 2nd game of the season was also washed out. The team is looking 100% better than last season's disaster. I would say that we can now compete with any team in 3A, and would give a game to both CCC and TCA. I really was looking forward to the Jesuit game to see how well we would do against that 5A power. We need to play every game like it is a championship one. Take nothing for granted.
  2. I'm far from "clueless" about Pahokee. After all, we only played them in 3 championship games. Funny, a few messages back you were saying that both Pahokee and Glades Central were not even the better teams in Palm Beach County much less anywhere else in Florida. The point that I was trying to make is that a small 1A team has a large disadvantage in playing a large 8A team. Although Pahokee has routinely played large public schools down through the years, they did not always win those games. Seminole Ridge was not one of the better 8A teams last season, although they played many close games against fairly good opposition, but Pahokee still handled an 8A team. They also handled a very good New Jersey team. I'm just trying to give credit where credit is due. It seemed to me that you didn't want to give Pahokee credit for anything, that;s all. And, please stop referring to me as "clueless". It's very rude and inconsiderate. If you want to take that attitude you should go back to that other message board that appreciates and encourages such behavior.
  3. Guess the real TCA showed up or the real Columbia didn't. That score indicates that maybe both happened.
  4. Hmmmm. Yes my friend, 1A Pahokee did defeat 8A Seminole Ridge, the same team that destroyed that team from Texas the next week. How does a 1A team not "struggle" against an 8A team whether win or lose? Can we give credit where credit is due to this team from the Muck?
  5. I'll throw my two cents in here, for what it's worth. We're talking about a top 7A team going up against a top 3A team. In most instances that should be somewhat of a mismatch. We all know that TCA is an all star team and championship material. We also know that they have yet to win a game. losses in two preseason and 1 regular season games. From what I saw of TCA's game against Cocoa, they are very beatable. And remember, Cocoa is only a 4A team, albeit a very good 4A team. If TCA doesn't revert to their previous year's form Columbia just may win this one by a comfortable margin.

I know about now that the Celtic players are biting at the bit. I'm hoping that Jesuit agrees to a game this Saturday. Thanks Jess

Nothing on their Facebook page either. I'm quite sure that the game will be rescheduled. I guess it will be up to Jesuit as to when they can travel over here.

That's John Brantley doing what he does.

Looking at my interactive weather map it would seem that all games in Florida, from West Palm Beach north, will be cancelled for Friday. Can't see any team wanting to play in the weather that's coming in from the Gulf.
  11. I think that's a very interesting question, especially in reference to IMG, considering IMG travels long distances for many of their games. I believe that most of the D-1 football teams travel on chartered aircraft since they have large rosters, many coaches, cheerleaders, bands. and all of their equipment. So a B737, which is configured for about 220 passengers, would probably be about right. I'm not sure if many high schools charter an aircraft to transport their team. I am pretty sure that IMG does charter aircraft for their team. Can you imagine the nightmare it would be flying commercial from Tampa to one of the airports near to the school they would be playing. Just getting that many seats on one commercial flight would be a challenge much less connecting flights one or two times.

Kerwin Bell's goal was always to HC a major college team. He went up to Jacksonville and coached a total loser, Jacksonville University a Division 1 school, to two Pioneer Football League championships. He now is the HC of Valdosta State University. VS last won the Gulf South Conference championship in 2010. I expect them to be back there by next season under Bell.

My preference for best HC in Marion County was Kerwin Bell. Brantley was an assistant coach under Bell. Bell took a brand new high school team in 2002 and made them winners from the get go. In 2003 they were in the 1st round of the playoffs. In 2004 they were in the 2nd round. In 2005 they won the championship. In 2006 they were in the championship game. Brantley took them to the championship game in 2008 and 2010. They won in 2010.

I don't know of any Trinity Catholic players that transferred to Belleview. Trinity Catholic had 6 players transfer in from Forest, West Port, and I believe Dunnellon. John Brantley is simply doing the same thing as HC of Belleview that he did for years at Trinity and that is win. The man doesn't have the best personality. But, he knows how to develop winning football teams.
  15. Have you seen their stadium? Huge. Like a college stadium. Looks like a beautiful field to play on. I wonder if they fill those stands? http://www.publicschoolreview.com/camden-county-high-school-profile/27921
  16. Yes, I believe he's playing OLB. D-1 candidate. Don't know if he's also playing WR or not. We have 8 players that play offense only and another 8 players that play defense only. The rest play where they are needed. We had about 6 players that transferred from public schools to Trinity during the summer. I believe that all are D-1.
  17. We have a good set of LBs who are tough as nails. Noah Carmon 6'3" 225, Brandon Dickson 6'3" 225, Sam Wwatkosky 6'5" 220. Our nose guard Uriah Gilbert 6'3" 340 runs the 40 in 5 seconds. I feel that Davis may have to go outside for some running room. I think we can score on Jesuit as we moved pretty well against Buchholz. The question is can we stop or slow down their offense enough to win?
  18. The dynamic duo.QB Daniel Boone and RB Malick Davis. The thing is, how do you stop Davis? If he gets past the DL he is gone. One of the best RB's I've seen in quite some time. And, Boone is one cool customer. Excellent team manager and play maker. Jesuit will be a handful even on our field. Can't believe they are even better than last season. Scares the heck out of me and must be giving Coach Sturdivant sleepless nights. Since Buchholz was a KO Classic both benches played. Although we did well against them it is still just a glorified scrimmage. Doesn't really matter whether we beat them or they beat us, although it's nice to know that we hung with them.
  19. I'm not sure whether OTC is quite yet up to the task of defeating TCA right now. However, come playoff time they will be ready. I liked the way that OTC played against 7A power Buchholz. Pretty much an even game. OTC committed one too many personal fouls that gave Buchholz good field advantage. Otherwise they may have won the game. The way that the OTC OL opened holes against a tough Buchholz DL was just short of amazing. You expect your RBs to rip off big yardage against minor 3A teams not against a major 7A team. At any rate, TCA and CCC will probably run the table against their 3A opponents during the regular season, unless OTC beats CCC in the regular season. The proof in the pudding this year will be in the 3rd round of the playoffs.
  20. Let's get real. I'm quite sure in the preseason games "both" teams play their benches. So, I can't believe that against Lee and NM that TCA played their JV and Lee and NM played their starters. I watched the Cocoa game. Cocoa is not an STA, a Central, or a BTW. They are a good team but far from the best team around. As such, IMO Cocoa made TCA look like an ordinary team. And, Cocoa is a ground game team. They don't pass much. I am wondering what will happen when TCA comes up against a solid passing team that also has a ground game? As far as I'm concerned TCA does not look like the team from previous years which was nearly unbeatable.
  21. Hmmmmm. First Lee, then North Marion, now Cocoa. Are things turning on the Crusaders?
  22. As confused as Gainesville looked on offense throughout this game. I'm amazed they were able to stay close to Columbia until the end. Even a confused Gainesville team seems to be as good or better than most quality teams. If the Hurricanes put together a decent running game they will be very hard to beat. Their QB is an excellent play manager. Except for the penalties, which are the fault of the players and not the referees, as the Columbia broadcaster was consistently intimating, Columbia played fairly well. I saw some marginal calls against Gainesville, also. I like the physical look of Columbia. They seem to be an athletically fit team and kind of remind me of the look STA has on the field. Except for the amount of downtime for penalties, this was an interesting game to watch.
  23. This is not the same Rickards as of late. They always had the athletes and now they have the coaching. Madison may be in for a rude awakening although they seem to play better at Boot Hill. They beat Madison last year with a Jr QB and mostly underclassmen. Their QB is back and so are most of their starters. It could get ugly.
  24. I would think it would be difficult for a 1A team to defeat a 5A team, no matter how good that 1A team is. Now, if they were going up against a 5A team that doesn't win much, then they should do pretty well. Wakulla is one of the top 5A teams. I say Wakulla wins this one by a couple of TDs if not more.
  25. I'll be sure to tune in..................................
