I bet that was a great game to have watched. Thank you for the link. I happen to come across this earlier this morning on youtube searching.

    Are the Bulls young?

Changes are coming very soon. I've seen the AD memorandum from the AD board meeting. They are proposing to count all transfers in, home schoolers, move ins, as a weight of 3 and from the looks of it they will be counting the incoming freshman class as part of the classification. So, a lot of schools will be moving up to balance the playing field. With all the transfers everywhere its now evident whats going on and if they don't put a stop to it or balance the field Florida football will be ruined for a long time.

I think the FHSAA did a good job, I will only disagree with one thing on their FAQ

"A: After traveling the state this past year, the consensus the FHSAA heard from its athletic directors and coaches was that they wanted an equal number of teams by classification, an even number of teams in each district and region and no three-team districts. Moving schools would go against that sentiment and would create uneven classifications, regions or districts. The staff has thoroughly reviewed the assignments and do not see any schools that are geographically isolated that would require movement to another classification (FHSAA Policy 12). To maintain the wishes of our constituents, the FHSAA will not be accepting appeals."

I do not think they lived up to the part where are equal number of teams per classification considering 1A-4A have 40ish teams and 5A-8A have 80 teams. Again, the FHSAA would have done better to remove one class and then do equal size classes. Instead of the current 1/3 and 2/3 rule they follow.

If they actually traveled the state I’m sure a majority public wanted to be separated from private. FHSAA only heads what they wanna hear.

Back in the day I competed in natural powerlifting and my body weight increased from 152 (high school) only to about 175 after college. Of course when we get older the lbs stack on due to metabolism, etc. Now I wish I could cut to 200, but at 50 it's simply a brutal uphill battle:).

If you can stick with just vegetables for two weeks you can change your metabolism and lose a lot of weight. I did this and lost 20 lbs in two weeks from 240 to 220 but came back up to 225 due to some medical issues. Meat is the cause of most of our issues later in life.

  4. I seen it first hand back in 2006 we had a RB who was fast but not that fast. He ran track after football and they all ended up at state that year. His senior year 2007 that kid was a difference between night and days, his running was different and he was just plain out fast. I asked the HC why does he look so different and the HC said "TRACK, track made him faster and he learned to run better." There is technique to help players and I think Track, Weightlifting and Football compliment each other more than people really think.

  5. The past years I’ve noticed these two sports go hand in hand as track makes you fast in football. True or false?

We we had a player in 2006 who was RB and a junior. He wasn’t fast per se. He runs track that school year then his senior year he was football fast.

is safe to say Track is very important for certain football positions?

I am not a Cardinal Gibbons homer and I try to be as neutral as possible in the whole public vs private debate.  Earlier this year, I watched game films of the Chiefs.  Of 26 players I watched play, only 2 were transfers this year.  WR Vamir Cadet transferred from Doral and OL Jonathan Weaver transferred from South Plantation.

The vast majority of their players used to be listed on CG's JV squad.  A few appeared to come directly to the varsity squad as underclassmen.  So, here is a team that is clearly building its own talent from within.  I did a similar exercise for several other south FL schools.  Chaminade was the only one that had a large amount of transfers starting this year.

I disagree. You don’t have such studs built from homegrown talent pool. CG most likely offered public vouchers scholarships to the kids while young/JV so they can grow together. Like I’ve said in another post as long as they do t use public funds they can recruit all day long but because public can’t do it because they are public taxpayer funded any private school shouldn’t be allowed if they receive any public voucher funding for any student. Last private should have their own playoff format.

  7. I have no issues with Private Schools recruiting as long they cannot use public voucher funds to do and as long as private schools had their own playoff format. That’s the issue I have. FHSAA says public schools cannot recruit mainly because public money is being used. Should be the same with private schools who use ANY funds from public vouchers.

  8. Our HC did the same thing, he punted with 3 mins approx to go in the game. But he had confidence the defense would stop the opponent and they did. But that hurt them in the end as time was running out and they were rushing on every single down. I agree some of these HCs do not think about it but we cannot blame them they have only seconds to make that decision.

  9. Okay the REF falling made that penalty up for me...LOL

Anyway great recruiting up there in at TC...What is TCs schools population again from last year 580 students? I never seen a school with 580 students have such studs on a team like that!!! Again great job recruiting...

    EDIT: Make that 480 students!!!!

  10. Unless Edgewater places all 11 in the defensive box they won't be able to stop Bowman nor that huge monster they got as a FB!!! Geez those two are better than Rainey and his FB companion!!! Freaking fast just freaking fast...

Sorry but Lakeland is going to blow them out. Throw out all the history and record books because the don't mean crapola!!!

  11. How about asking your friend answer the question first!!! It’s about who over a lineman  and whoever is free. Gives the RBs many opportunities to find what hole is the best. It’s not hard but like badbird said most teams don’t have the size. IFormation is old very old and not successful anymore in the playoffs. Show me one Florida team running it that’s in the state semifinals?

Theres inside and outside, play side and non playside.

But I guess some will always believe they’ve done something special when they are sitting at home watching the playoffs.

  12. Somebody asked me on messanger "Who do you think will win 5A?". My response was A private school. Why? Because they can recruit and been doing it for years.

I still say separating public vs private then place some very hardcore transfer rules on public schools it would fix just about everything. Like it was stated in this post earlier do what PA does or add your own, if a player transfer's to a school then they need to sit out for a year. If they wanna go the transfer route do what NCAA does and make them sit out for a year. As for private as long as they are separated during the playoffs then let them recruit unless they get public funds under vouchers. Not even private should be allowed to do what they do knowing they are receiving public voucher money.

Lets look at he Brackets CURRENTLY:

5A: there are 4 private schools playing for Semi Finals!!!! Private schools should NOT be receiving public voucher funds, period. Now, go back each year, its been like this over and over. Private schools in 5A are playing 7A players, period.....Now with the transfer rules in place, a team like Jefferson has players who can't go to plant because their best spots are filled, so Jefferson gets the 2nd best, Jesuit won't take them because again the best spots are filled, so Jefferson stacks their players just like pee-wee leagues were doing. Every years, its the same old song, private schools go outta state and around the state and recruit and bring in the talent because they can, FHSAA does nothing has never did anything about it. Now whenever Jeb started the voucher program it gave a way for private schools to do whatever they wanted to because now the taxpayers are paying for players to go to private schools for free!!!! Its such a gimmick now that many folks have quit watching FHS football and well I just recently retired from it. I am done with it. I cannot stand watching the lopsided field anymore because even public schools in certain areas are pulling everybody, VENICE is the biggest one on the west coast of Florida, the pulled everybody from Manatee down to north charlotte if not charlotte, they stacked their team because of who, STA!!!!

You can agree with FHSAA all you want, but until things like recruiting and now the public team stacking stops, many folks will keep leaving every year and FHSAA can keep ruining this game for everyone. Competitiveness should be done on the field, not by how many D1 players a school can get or how many public school football team can stack the field.

I blame Jeb Bush who started the voucher program crap and the private schools who dug deep, very deep into his pockets to get the program going. FHSAA did nothing, they just sat back and didn't warn anybody about what was going to happen.

Until this stuff gets changed I'm done, finished, and retired. I see it in our stands every year, the attendance is lower and lower and well every year its going to get like this everywhere.

  13. I agree with CHF, they gotta fix these districts, MIX them up every two years, so teams don't have to play each other every year. Its getting old, very old. Also with the transfer rule, teams that once was good is so bad they have to get some of the guys from cheer leading to try out. Just not the same since Florida enacted the transfer rule. Its dumb and stupid. All they had to do was fix the private vs public, then we wouldn't have these conversations.

  14. Can somebody tell me why certain Coaches insist on using the gap instead of teaching zone on the offensive line? Example, they are trying to basically "trick" the fans on the home side, making it appear they are running the pistol but in all reality they are still running the IFormation just out of the shotgun. If a person does not know about schemes they would think they are running the pistol but they are not.

So, why does the staff do this? If any kid ends up in college they will have to learn zone for the first time on the oline. I just do not get why some insist on why they keep running the same stuff over and over. Sorry but while others are winning championships running zone on the oline the teams that still run the gap are like watching 60s black and white television...

The truth hurts but its the truth...

  15. Just now, badbird said:

Lakeland got there fair share of transfers

Oh no doubt about that badbird. I'm watching them right now. But can you blame when they passed the Transfer law for public schools? I don't but man they have created a mess. Just fix the stupid loopholes that private schools use, if they would have done this then there was no need to have the open transfer law. But FHSAA kept saying their hands are tied. Seriously I was told this from that Director (The Doctor) in an email. He actually said "My hands are tied"....Crazy, they are suppose to be the people to have fixed it but they didn't so now we have all kinds of recruiting, transfers, name it, its going on. On the other board some geek says south teams are even playing older gents.

But I hope Bowman from Lakeland goes to UF, that is one freaking fast kid!!!
