  1. Pendleton School is a great education. College prep is the basis.

These kids do their specific sport around the school but still get an education. Think of it as college for any age. Also don't think of just high school age kids.

I saw 6-8 year old tennis players there with their coaches at 8am practicing that I couldn't beat.

The IMG company was a sports agency representing a lot of big time pro athletes if I remember correctly

International Medical Group was the thought back when I was there but I think that was a rumor. IMG has its hands in a lot of things not related to sports as well. Think bigger .

I am pretty sure they started as a tennis academy

It was the Nick Bollettieri Academy. It also was not at the location it is now off of 34th street. He moved to that location along with David Ledbetter. Then IMG purchased the academy and Nick was paid to use his name for what--money and to get kids to come.

  4. I could go on and on about stories from IMG.

The old strength coach (going back maybe 8-10 years ago) for UF had a short time as the IMG coach before IMG football days. Nice guy to me but being paid to see results. IMG hires guys like this to lure potential prospects. Some prospects pay some don't.

Was at The David Ledbetter golf complex with my vehicle. It was parked near the net on the driving range. I asked the coach if it would be ok to leave it there and not be hit. He said" If they hit the truck its because they wanted to". These where 13-15yr olds driving huge distances. They don't take second tier kids unless they pay.

  5. If you have never been on the IMG campus it is hard to explain. It has been a few years but the amount of money flowing through this place is almost unimaginable. Its not cash its the things you see that most do not. The amount of resources is unlimited. The best coaches, equipment, books, staff, food. They are all geared for one thing and its not losing.

I can remember being refused entry due to a security issue with a Prince of some middle east country being on campus.

Any sport that you can think of that they can make money off of is available for the right price.

Don't forget IMG has other interests as well Modelling and other businesses. Its a Corporation .

For playoff points, your points are divided by how many games you play (must play minimum of 8 to make playoffs).

So let's say both Lakeland and Manatee finish with 400 points (random number picked; no clue if this is high or low) -- if the game was played then it would be divided by 10. Since the game is not being played, it will now be divided by 9.

It behooves teams to play 10 games, of course, but it is what it is.

So lets just take Manatee for instance. Lets say they don't win their district (which I'm leaning towards). Lets put into that equation the teams they beat this year don't end up having good seasons and records are down. It would seem if this happens they would be looking for every point they could regardless of how many games played.

I'm still trying to play out in my head this points system as the year goes on. My thought is this game not being played will hurt in the end.

Lakeland/Manatee stopped about 5 minutes into the 1st quarter due to lightning. Game was cancelled and will not be made up.

So these teams don't need the playoff points for this game? I would have wanted to see that game finished as well. Was actually hoping for it to be played sometime this weekend.

  8. Quote

Had a college coach make a few points recently that made sense to me.

If they are looking for 5 OL they will put on their board 20 guys they think can get the job done. Any 5 of them they would be happy to get. So they go after that 20 hard. Made sense to me as any 5 that they got would fit the position and fill the need. Sure out of that 20 there will be 5 guys they will roll out the red carpet for.

They also had 3 tiers of players that everyone falls into.

1 We have to have you here and offer now

2 Need to see more film and will keep recruiting them.

3 You need to look elsewhere. While its not a science we don't see you playing at our school at this time.

Again to me precise and to the point.

Not sure why this in a quote ? But it is my experience recently.

Close to it they went 14-1 that year & I think undefeated the year b4

2012 they were 14-1 and won the State Champ by the score of 70-35. 2013 Stephensville went 12-2 and deep into playoffs. Not sure of the outcome. They had a kid as a Jr named Jarrett Stidam at QB. He went on to Baylor and started a few games as a true freshman in 2015.

in 2014 The QB as a senior had a RB who if I recall ran for like 1800+ yards or some crazy number. So during the summer of 2014 the RB transferred and coach left to be an assistant in college. QB graduated and from what I could see the good players left and transferred elsewhere. That left the team in a bad spot. Venice already under contract (similar to this year having to go to Camden County) was obligated to go anyways.

First 2 passes from the at the time sophomore first start QB were intercepted at like to 10yard line and Venice was able to score 14-0 in the first few min of the game. It could have been worse but as the starters left the game Stephenville got it together and settled down.

Just my observation while we were there.

I really want to see all of these matchup I listed though

The Stephensville team had a D1 QB and really good RB and the head coach leave after the 2014 season. They are 7-15 since and look to be rebuilding the program.

Do you mean Stephensville TX Yellow Jackets?

If so that was a big disappointment in 2015 when I made that trip over.

  12. I have been on that campus many times. IMG has the best of everything that money can buy. They also work their lower tier employees like dogs with little pay and no time off. They will have offsite staff handle all of that paperwork with no questions.

If you have never been on that campus or seen them work it would be hard to explain from a keyboard.

  13. My guess is these kids will move between teams based off of playing time from the previous games. I cant imagine these type of players being ok with just standing on the sidelines. Kid from the National Team that didn't get many snaps may play for the Varsity Team the next week.
