I will say this, no. Over the years I have seen a lot on the football fields around here and south. I have witnessed a few things similar to this. It doesn't change my opinion of that person or the program overall. Knowing what I do know I will say it was unfortunate. Emotions were running high. The back drop to the game was also unfortunate. Only 1 team in 7A is happy at the end of the year. The other 87 teams will be disappointed.

Bad moment of judgement that does not reflect the true person.

We are and have been known as a retirement community. I doubt grandma and grandpa or the snow birds have D lineman that weigh 300+ lbs at home in Venice. What I will say is we do the more with less.

I never cared much for the recruiting thing. Per capita we don't get the types of players south florida does its just facts.

This is not a big city and the two schools are close enough to despise each other. Back in the day there was only Venice and all of those kids were bused into here.

I like the kid in question nothing personal. My son has played many sports against him. Good athlete. I think something like this smells fishy. I did read up on the rules which if one player contacts another from a different school to recruit him to come is a violation. I think that is tough to enforce but as seen here can be done.

I read a lot of your comments and usually don't respond due to your opinions. Do your research like you have in the past on the player in question.

Im pretty sure Brian was enroled at BR awhile ago. He was at the school before the IMG guys. I hope it works out for him.

In the middle of March I will say NO on that STA game. Unless those transfers are college ready players now I don't think they will at any point. I also don't think anyone will from around this area as well. As far as being in 7A they will do well. Who knows how it will play out. September 29th winner will be the drivers seat for the District Championship.

I think they will play that game at Disney Wide World of Sports.

What are your thoughts on the loss of Tyrone Collins ?

Those additions with Fenwick it will be a tough road in the district once again. Bryson last name is Lucero not that it really matters.

Sadly my son will graduate next year. Did the TX thing as a sophomore so that was good.

I had heard the same. I'm guessing its because after last year game and the lightning delay it took forever for them to get home. They in return want us to do the same. Every 2 years Venice schedules out of state games. This was the year to go somewhere but GA it is I guess.

Lucky because I'm not looking forward to that drive.

Camden County has Columbia also listed on their schedule. That game last year was cancelled due to weather I believe.

Last year the team did well until the STA game. Until then the games that were on the schedule were thought to be good tests. It just didn't turn out that way. Lakeland in the spring game 14-13 loss Plant in the KOC win 38-25 Camden County turned out to be a dud Manatee who typically is good win 42-7 Braden River 1st time win 42-35 Braden River 2nd time win 64-42 The toughest part of our schdeule was and still is the weak district we have to play. Team like Palmetto who was pretty good has not made the playoffs because of Braden River and Venice. We are not and will not be on the level of STA and the likes of IMG. Its just not going to happen. Do we have good players sure, but we don't fill out a team of monsters or athletes that will wow anyone. Long story short is why not try to schedule opponents who are like the team you need to try to compete with. Do we match up well with IMG, NO. We didn't match up well with STA but tried to take a good positive attitude into that game. Just didn't work out on our end. Looks like coach is trying to schedule teams that would help prepare the team. Booker T Washington game couldn't happen. In that game it would be the same. Continue to do the same things and expect the same results.

In other news.. the fan there along with many other parents were upset. I heard a few things from the stands that was to be expected when you see your players season come to an end. As far as scheduling teams from the south, that is a 3 plus hour drive I cant see us making for a regualr season game. Try to get the better teams from our area but they do not play the same style. We just did not look like the same team we did at any part of the year. Mostly because of STA but in general we didnt do some of the things well. A prduct of not being this deep has to account for it as well. If you are not familar w Venice it does not have the younger popluation that the south has. We are primarily a retirement community that has become younger as of late. We don't get the athletes you are used to seeing. I am very happy to have been able to watch my son play against STA. I said it before it is what it is and in a few short hours the sun will come up for another day.

What I saw on film showed up and will be on its way to winning a 3rd staright title this year. STA much better than we were.

In any case I wish both teams well and look forward to tonight. Both communities should have nothing but pride in what 15-16-17-18 year old kids can accomplish when faced with challanges. TrabisWard I hope all fans are as excited as both you and I are just we are on different spectrums of the field tonight.

Absolutely that team has tons of talent no one can deny that. Exposure to a highly successful program will also get kids playing at the next level plain and simple. STA has more D1 offers than Venice has simple mathematics at work. Everyone makes it seem as if Venice should save the gas and not bother coming at all. What fun is that. I'm pretty sure anyone could have a bad day. In fact Venice could and no one would blink an eye. I can see the internet posts go on and on about how correct the predictions were. Even if Venice loses does that mean all is lost? The season was a waste? In my case no. If we can get some of these kids an opportunity to use football as a resource to get a higher education then this season and all of its accolades will be exactly what it needed to be. If Venice wins then it just means another week of football and the sense of excitement is that much greater.

It is a difficult task at hand, kids know it and so does everyone else, but that's what makes it fun. If STA wins great. If Venice does that will be great as well. These are just kids playing a big game. I'm a person behind a keyboard looking for a quality game. On Sat morning after everyone is done patting one team on their back and another is done sulking about what could have been the sun will still rise and life moves on.

Also I read that last player suspened for STA has been reinstated and can play tomorrow night.

No need to apologize. Some of these kids have been playing together since they were 5, We have seen at a young age some dirty and hostile teams. I'm not sure if they are ready for that at the moment but they should be able to adapt quickly. I am very happy to say their strength and condition coach is an ex army ranger and throughout the summer put them through things to get ready for a game like this. Hopefully the prep work will pay off. My guess about the fans are similar to the Tampa Jesuit baseball team and their fans. When Venice plays them some really crazy and disgusting things have been done.
