A couple Gibbons kids already transferred to St. Thomas and a couple Monarch kids including All County Sophomore QB have transferred to Deerfield. Transfer season has definitely already started.
A few years ago I interviewed for a coaching job at Monarch. The head coach there hates Deerfield bc they've basically turned Monarch into a feeder school for them

Free agency is back! An old face going back to an old place to start it out:

Had no idea they moved up to D2, good for them. That's a bad look on the coaches though if they promised discounted rent that was never a thing.
Between that and JU dropping football, not a great time for college football in Duval

If you know then name the kids and the coach! Otherwise it's hearsay, actually it's hearsay anyway, since you have no first hand knowledge. You really don't have anything to offer except sour grapes that the school system isn't how you wish it to be.
So am I believe that you're saying that no school recruits?

I know Manasco and he had Westland winning 4-5 games a season, that's how I already knew he was a great coach lol. They got some transfers in over the summer to bolster the defense too. They handled Western, I didn't think that would happen. I think Palmetto is a legit state title contender.

I don't think this is a true statement, Josh and I had a long conversation on that subject recently.
Well unless something changed recently, I was coaching the last 3 seasons down in Miami-Dade and my head coach told me that a player can work out at whatever school he wants to during the summer. But once he participates in a practice with a team, that's it.
Here's an excerpt from an FHSAA notice of transfer form:
"A student who changes schools after initially attending another school is subject to Bylaw 9.3 Transfer Regulations. The student may be ineligible for the remainder of the sport season during which the transfer occurs. However, Bylaw 9.3.2.1 allows the student to transfer to another school prior to the first day of practice in a sport in which the student wishes to participate and maintain his/her eligibility, provided the public school board or private school policies allow the student to transfer and maintain eligibility (reference FS 1006.20)."

Gulliver Prep beat Barbara Goleman 50-14.
I'm surprised at that Palmetto/Western score, although I saw Palmetto's defense did most of the damage. Western's weakness when it comes to the better 8A teams will probably be its offense. Doesn't look like they'll have enough firepower. It won't matter in district play I think, but if they want to beat an STA or advance deep in the playoffs, the offense will have to tighten up bc the defense should be fine.

I won’t b surprise to see a lot of kids transfer within the next few days
Yeah like coach said, once you practice for the first time with a team, you can't play for that same sport for another school this fall. The kids have to do what most used to do, which is just make the best of a situation.

I don't live in South FL anymore, but I'll be down there next week and want to catch a game on Friday night if possible. Any that yall would suggest? I could go with the alma mater and see Western play Everglades but I feel like that will be a blowout. Let me know though.

Bruh I graduated from Western in 2006 and I haven't been back in the locker room since. That locker room looks amazing! I'm jealous lol. Anyhow, that Western/Palmetto kickoff classic is gonna be a monster and I wish I could be there to watch it!
-
BTW has an ad for a head coach up on the FHSAA web site, but at this point you have to just promote from within for at least this season right? Makes no sense to hire a new coach the week of kickoff classics.

Curious, but there seem to be a lot of large south Florida teams missing from the new classifications

Varela
Westland Hialeah

Titusville???
Umatilla???
Warner Christian???Those Dade schools plus Coral Park and maybe 1-2 other schools are going independent and starting a conference I believe. They're trying to go with a north/south division format and the top 2 from each division does a 4 team playoff. Been trying to find something official on it but nothing yet

2022 QB Georges Daniel transfers to North Miami from Miami Christian.

7A got a lot tougher in my opinion, especially in South Florida. STA will still be the favorite in their district, but Plantation will make them work harder. Then you add Wekiva up north. Going to be very interesting.

All things considered, I can think of a LOT of teams that would have liked to lose 7 times in a state semi over the past 25 years.
Yeah but the issue is, Deerfield probably isn't one of the teams that is, or should be, happy with that fact.
I won't quite put them on the Vero Beach level of playoff fraud, but they're next up.

General comments here not directed at you DB...these teams should try traveling from Panhandle to Miami or vice versa and playing at the other team's stadium, like back in the day. A team in New Mexico just traveled 500 miles for a first round playoff game. Having spent time in some other states has given me perspective on what whiners some people in FL are. Sorry, just had to say it.
As far as the Dolphins, no doubt they do great things for the community. Something about the following rubs me the wrong way, though. And other NFL teams do similar things, so it's not just the Dolphins (although I think the Colts also offer some free camps). Recognizing how many of these kids are coming from families who do not have that kind of money, and these are the kids who will be lining their pockets in the future, they should be offering these things for free, IMO.
Traveling that far for a first round game just doesn't make sense anymore if you don't have to do it. A team could miss 1 or more likely 2 days of school. Then you have to get hotels for the team, and feed the team. It's not about what they did back in the day, it's more about how they're going to pay for all that.
I do agree about football camps that should be free. Or even if you do have camps that you pay for, still have some other free camps.
Menendez New Coach

I'm not saying he's a bad coach, bc I don't. But he also coached at a private school and got a massive amount of talent from Nevada and California and dominated a state that isn't a football power. I would have been interested to see how they did in any of those Southern California districts. They were able to beat some elite out-of-state teams, don't get me wrong, but I think he may be a tad overrated based on the state he was in.
However, I wish him the best of luck at Menendez, and they certainly made a splash hire, especially this late in the process.
