  1. I can smell the excuses 161 miles away!
  2. Sounds like Dillard’s new coach is already working wonders for them. The first step to beating any team (let alone STA or Chaminade,) is not beating yourselves. We’ll see how this plays out but it seems that Dillard fans have a lot to smile about heading into the regular season.
  3. I said this game wouldn’t be close…
  4. One last indignity before the start of the season. Wide receiver Keehan Levell transfers from Clarkston, Missouri to Venice.
  5. It’s funny how Miami Edison was the last team to beat STA at Brian Piccolo in a playoff game but now are so bad that they can’t even score on an average Miramar team. Right @FBGUY1989 @THIS_IS_DILLARD
  6. Dwyer’s great teams are long gone. If Vero wins by less than 24 points they played a bad game.
  7. Don’t get too down. The people at Maxpreps aren’t exactly rocket scientists.
  8. What has happened in the past doesn’t matter now. Norland has a real chance against Miami Central and they need to jump on it *NOW* while they are fielding (maybe) their best team ever. The light is about to turn green and Norland really needs to have a good start and improve every single week in anticipation of meeting Central in the playoffs. Because if they don’t, who knows when this situation will present itself again?
  9. Daytona Mainland on paper has the best team returning and should be the favorite in 3S. Lake City Columbia and Naples will be too young to challenge them and Lake Wales’ defense will need retooling.
  10. The north side of the 3M bracket is pretty strong as well, STA or Homestead vs Tampa Bay Tech, Edgewater, Armwood, or Jones would all be pretty good matchups.
  11. Don’t stop singing the good song when you know that it’s right. We need a sensible transfer rule, fewer classifications, larger districts, and no Madison County-esque loopholes to crush smaller schools. Unfortunately, there still remains the small problem of convincing the FHSAA to listen to these demands before implementing them…
  12. I would say that both of them are very wrong considering that both Cribboy and Vero Indian are picking blowout victories for their respective teams. That doesn’t do justice to the talent level or either team. I think Miami NW wins a very tight game but I could be wrong.
  13. This is ludicrous. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a teacher calling a student named “Thomas,” “Tommy,” as long as the student is ok with it. But now paperwork has to be filed in order for a non-offensive nickname to be used? It is unbelievable that this is where our priorities lay in the year 2023.
  14. Anyone please KO STA, so tired of seeing them win every season.
  15. What exactly is so funny about what I wrote?
  16. 1S- First Baptist should win again though I think Pahokee is trending back in the right direction to challenge them again. Could be interesting. 1R- Madison County terrorizes the smaller schools. 2S- Cocoa steamrolls until proven otherwise. FSU High will not be what they were last year and Bradford is still a little unproven. 3S- I think Mainland is the most overall talented team in this class and should win it this year. 4S- Venice is more than talented enough to unseat Castle-less Lakeland. 1M- Chaminade will have no competition until they run into TCA, but I still like Chaminade here. 2M- Miami Central will have competition from Norland and BTW but they should win it all. 3M- STA. Do I even need to provide an explanation here? 4M- I should say Columbus but I think Apopka will have an overall better team, it will take everything Apopka has but I think they finally unseat the Explorers.
  17. Yeah for sure, I feel like I talk about MC more than Venice lol. Everything has to sort itself out but I’m confident that the national championship will rest somewhere in Florida at the end of the 2023 season!
  18. No objective evidence that Miami Central is better than these teams? How about the fact that they play Gorman week 2 and CMD week 5 with the national championship on the line? How about the fact that after they were top 4 nationally last year, are returning most of that team on top of numerous high-profile transfers? Or that if they go undefeated they will probably unseat Mater Dei for national champions? Are any of those subjective?
  19. Vero needed a schedule like this! Would love to see a Battle Of The Indians in the state championship!
  20. Opinions? That’s what you call objective reality? A “collection of opinions?” Miami Central goes out and beats Bishop Gorman on their own field, beats STA and IMG on their own fields, was a miraculous blocked kick away from beating Gorman again, has 9 state championships and regularly schedules some of the top competition in the nation, and are about to field their best team ever, and and you think them being a top 5 team nationally is subjective?
  21. I have stated several times before in plain English that because of the open transfer movement, the only way for the rest of the state to compete with the South Florida juggernauts is to load up on transfers themselves. It’s not fair, but the classification Miami Central is currently in includes many other “cheaters” who get as many if not more transfers than Central. This puts almost all of the cheaters in one class, so let them duke it out while the rest of the state has mostly competitive playoff matchups. Also, Madison County belongs in 2S while Cocoa should be moved up to 3S. This would go a long way toward balancing out the competition.
  22. Jealousy springs eternal...
  23. Well remember that Central does have one win against Bishop Gorman that came in 2017. They had to stay out west for another week that year because of the hurricane. And beating IMG National at their house is basically the equivalent of an OOS victory because they have no excuse to ever lose a football game at the high school level. Miami Central is probably the best public football team in the country. The proof is that they are top 5 nationally while the other 4 teams (Mater Dei, SJB, Gorman, STA,) are all private. That speaks volumes about the level of football that goes on in Miami.
  24. Intentions matter. If the nickname in question pokes fun at a student’s weight, height, race, creed, religion, ethnicity, and such. This is wrong and the ringleader must be stopped. Whatever consequences are appropriate for something like this are debatable, but I don’t believe an endearing nickname like “Flash,” “brain,” or “bulldozer” that some kids wear as a badge of honor for excellence in some ability, ought to be punished or viewed as inherently damaging.
