They can’t dominate the line of scrimmage like they have in the past. Their o-line just doesn’t have the muscle that it used to.
Their secondary is not as tough as you might think- against Miami Central, STA got torched against not only hot running backs but also good receivers. A competent passing game along with a fantastic ability to run the ball might catch them off guard. Being creative with pass plays and doing catch-and-runs is the way to beat STA’s defense. Venice also dominates the LOS this year like they have in the past.
Shutting down their offense is going to be another matter. In order to shut down their offense, you need to pressure the quarterback consistently because they have an efficient passing game. Having a quarterback spy along with keeping 7 men in the box, 2 cornerbacks, and 2 guys deep in the secondary will ensure that they can’t pass- without problems of course. And it will also severely disable their running game.
All in all I think Venice can do this to STA this year. I’ve seen them play almost perfectly before, and I think they can do it again, beat STA on the road, and win states again.
