Note despite being #2 in population on that list, Columbus has never been a school with tons of D1 players. Last few years we have had maybe 3-4 on the roster at anyone time. And those kids were generally 3* types. Only last year did we have a few kids senior year rate 4*- Josh Jobe and Trajan Bandy.
181pl - there are huge differences between privates, even the big ones.

Players to watch from Columbus:
Kalani Norris/senior WR - Georgia Tech commit; very dangerous in space; big-time playmaker
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/kalani-norris-22917
Xzavier Henderson/junior WR - big target at 6'3"
http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/232673/xzavier-henderson
Henry Parrish/junior RB - runs bigger than his size; elusive when he gets loose; this kid will be one of hottest rb recruits in south FL next year
https://247sports.com/Player/Henry-Parrish-46039386/
Gary Cooper/senior TE - Indiana commit
http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/232082/gary-cooper
Moody McDuffey/junior qb - considered dual threat but seems like more of a pocket passer; ran the offense well when I saw him
This defensive line is one of the best I have seen this year. DB's O-line will have their hands full.
Jeramy Passmore-senior DT - Indiana commit
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/jeramy-passmore-180840
Dylan Perez-senior DT - Army commit - this kid is a beast and can really move for someone his size
https://247sports.com/player/dylan-perez-46039387/
Elijah Roberts-junior DE-already numerous Power 5 offers
https://247sports.com/Player/Elijah-Roberts-46051699/
Jabari Ishmael-sophomore DE -this kid is going to be a monster recruit
https://247sports.com/Player/Jabari-Ishmael-46058192/
Rudy Puig-senior safety - watch for him to block kicks; has been very impressive when I have seen him play
https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/jeramy-passmore-180840
Also Demetrius Ford, he usually wears #1 but wore #30 last game in honor of the young man Ari Arteaga who passed this summer. He plays corner but will take on running back to relieve pressure on Parish.
Another thing to note is that both Henderson and Norris will see action as DB's on the other side of the ball.
And the edge goes to Columbus for kicking - Nick Maza - having a solid year although they haven't needed to rely heavily on him.

Hoping Columbus can beat DFB and go to states.
CPride.
Agreed. This is one of the more solid line ups on all sides of the ball in Merritt history. Should be a great game, DFB has home field advantage, but the Explorer faithful travel well. That said, I think the winner of this game takes the state title for 8A.

Not sure how they beat Sta.
Beating them wasn't a huge surprise, beating them by more than two scores was. That said, any given Friday night, these big inner city schools play up to one another. NW's record is deceiving - they lost to all solid teams. That said, STA rarely ever plays these Dade schools, and when they do, they are often surprised by the speed and tenacity.
CC, Central, and NW all have playmakers. Often the most disciplined team makes it out with the W.

Damn. Central had a rough draw. Dillard then Carol City. Couldn’t get past the third one. I think this gives Armwood a great chance
They do now. You mean Carol City. That game was an upset in my mind. I had CC winning it all in 6A.

Central drives the half way down the field, but hail mary sails out the back of the end zone. NW secures the upset.
NW 19
Central 15
FINAL
-
37 seconds left in the game and NW airs it out for a possible game winner. Pretty huge upset. PAT good.
NW 19 Central 15
-
Ensuing kickoff returned to the house by NW.
But holding call negates it.
Central clinging to a 3 pt lead
-
Just under 6 min left in the game and Central takes the lead. 2-pt conversion good.
