  1. Coach Darlington has had a great run at APK. Good luck to him if he gets the job. All coaches message seem to be stale after 7-10 years. Question is...Who gets the APK job if he leaves and do they still try to run the single wing?
  2. The FHSAA should reinstate 3 team playoffs for tiebreakers when neither team beat the other two. Let them decide it on the field and not the hocus pocus of points that are favorable to teams in smaller districts.
  3. Last year, you were upset that your team did not make the playoffs under the new system when they would have made it under the old runner-up system. i understand the frustration but the FHSAA made the points system a complete debacle this year increasing points for losses and it led to teams earning more points for losing a game than for the team who beat which is absurd. West Orange had its own playoff destiny in its hands last year and lost 4 games so it was hard to feel too bad for you. For the record, i liked old system where runner-up made it and there were wild cards for super tough districts.
  4. The FHSAA should also bring back the 3 way tiebreakers if three teams tie a district and none of them beat the other two. What would it hurt to settle it on the field on Monday after week 9 instead of the obviously flawed points system.
  5. The new system can be fixed in a easy way. Make all districts at least 6 teams instead of some with 4 and some with 7. This will stop hurting teams in large districts who have a certain number of guaranteed losses compared to 4 team districts. Next, make losing to a tier four team back to 30 instead of 35 to stop teams who lose a game from gaining more points than beating a team form lower tier.
  6. Check Lake Mary points because I have them as 8 seed even if they lose at 39.3. The fact that they can get in with 5 losses shows that the points for losses should have never been raised. FHSAA better change it for next year. My rant from earlier posts cover that teams can beat other teams and get less points as the winner versus the loser.
  7. Members 0 1 post Report post Posted 16 minutes ago My issue with the current playoff systems is that it has two main flaws which has made it a joke. A) It rewards teams who lose wayyyyyyyy tooo much. How does a team who loses a game to a playoff team that is undefeated for the year and earn more points than the winning team. 35 points for a loss to a top tier team and a 3 point bonus if they were a playoff team gives them 38 while the winning team earns 35 if the team is a lower level tier. They raised the point total last year for losses and it was a mistake. in one of the regions, a 1-7 team has more points than a 5-3 teams and numerous 4-4 teams. Solution - lower the points for a loss back to last years numbers. Or eliminate the bonus points. Giving more points to losing team than the winner is dumb. b ) The increased points for losers crushes teams in large districts (not under teams control). Teams in 7 team districts have a tougher time winning the district and give more automatic losses to everyone's scheduled opponents, thus lowering the points for all teams in the district. Meanwhile a 4 team district can schedule more wins outside of the conference and have less automatic losses and raise the point totals for every team in the district. solution- go back to last years loss points. Agree with earlier posts- go back to old system with fewer district and runner-up and points for wildcard teams using last years point totals
