  1. I gave him plenty of time . . .
  2. Henri Crockett Blanche Ely H.S. FSU Falcons (brother of Raiders RB, Zack Crockett) Allegedly, the above photo was taken of Crockett when he was 14 years old!
  3. Keith Rivers Lake Mary H.S. USC Bengals/Cowboys Nightmare player? Perhaps Hines Ward.
  4. Nigel Bradham Wakulla High School FSU Buffalo Bills (also played a few years with the Eagles).
  5. Well, it was cheaper than a Hallmark card and certainly cheaper than buying you a beer. Tell Mom I said hello.
  6. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers and father-figures on this board.
  7. Gotta love a linebacker with the name of "Spike Short." Very Hollywood-esque.
  8. Hornet Fan, if the state championship does end up being played at Orlando City Stadium, and if you end up getting a commission on the deal, it will have been well-earned.
  9. This is a fascinating topic, but I just don't see how you can have the conversation in a vacuum. Broader social issues and implications have to be part of the discussion and I'm just not sure that can be done on a message board that, understandably, tries to stay clear of larger political and socioeconomic debates.
  10. Columbia, you may very well prove to be correct. However, I get the impression that when it comes to football, south Florida is like the SEC -- if there's any way in the world that they can play, they will.
  11. Watcha talking about Willis? ALL kids coming out of high school are going to make it to the pros. Just ask them.
  12. Oui, oui, Monsieur. I think I know this one. Pierre Garcon John I Leonard High School Team record 107 catches for the Redskins in 2013 (one more than Art Monk).
  13. Kind of like the release that the Trump campaign is making the folks in Tulsa sign before they can attend the rally on Saturday.
  14. Unless we're returning to a time when one of the two teams in the championship game hosts the game, I don't think any of the championship games should be played in south Florida. That's just not fair to any school north of Gainesville.
  15. But if you really, really want to get technical, south Florida extends another 2 hours past Miami to Key West. At some point, it also makes sense to look at the number of teams that come from a given geographic region. Looking back at the past three years, 48 teams have made the state finals (2 teams in each of the 8 classifications over 3 years). Yes, some of them were repeats. That said, if my math and geography are as good as a 5th grader's, a total of 3 teams from towns/cities west of Tallahassee made the playoffs - Blountstown (twice), Escambia and Baker. Compare that to the number of south Florida teams that made it over the same period; the exact number depends on exactly where you draw the "south Florida" line, but the number is at least 20. All that said, I'd support playing the championship games as far north as Gainesville and as far south as the I-4 corridor from Tampa to Orlando.
  16. In addition to Bolles, STA and Glades Central, I'll go with Southeast (Bradenton) and North Florida Christian.
  17. You made me work for this one OldSchool, but I think I got it: Ron Stallworth Woodham H.S. in Pensacola (where he was the 1983 Defensive Player of the Year) Auburn (where he and some guy named Bo Jackson lead Auburn to a 59-27 thumping of the 'Noles). New York Jets
  18. You lost me on this one. Can you please explain?
  19. Sadly, both of these statements are true.
  20. A couple of thoughts: Like always, it will trickle down. What happens at the NFL and collegiate levels will likely be replicated by high school teams, players and coaches. Based on what I've seen at local protests, my prediction (hope?) is that whatever is done this time around is more likely to be done by a larger group of players - if not entire teams - with white players joining black players more so than the last time around. I could even see opposing teams meeting at or close to midfield for the national anthem to kneel together in a unified effort. A lot will depend on what happens between now and mid-August. Yeah, I know that's only two months, but who would have thought in February that our country would be in the middle of a pandemic quarantine in April and who would have thought in April that peaceful protests and not-so-peaceful rioting would be taking place across our country in June? In other words, a lot can change in two months.
  21. Rod Gardner Raines Clemson Washington Redskins
  22. I typed up a longer response as to why Tampa doesn't work, but apparently it got lost in cyberspace. Bottom line: Tropicana Field (St. Pete) might work. Raymond James (Bucs stadium in Tampa) won't work because it's natural grass and wouldn't be able to handle 4-5 games over 2 or 3 days during the NFL season.
  23. Funny you should say that HornetFan. After seeing Josh's post on social media today, I was wondering whether he should open up this site for a broader discussion of race and sports.
