Utah has got to be the worst in the country. They have 6 classes and only 105 teams in the state!!!!!!
-
No there isn’t any for football. Some small states only have 2 or 3. But that’s more of the fact they don’t have a lot of teams
-
I would like a coach who just coaches. Preferably not some former college or NFL player who is just bored or wants an introduction to coaching. I would prefer a coach who wants to be a high school football coach only. That’s his job. Not some teacher. Not some parent. Not some volunteer. An old ball coach. And X’s and O’s guy who is a leader of young men. A man who is of Christian faith and can teach young men valuable life lessons to help them be better teammates, husbands and fathers.

Imagine if you came from a small rural town and were interviewing for a job and they said they had a specific amount of openings. And you said to the hiring manager that you should only have to compete against the applicants from a small rural town. Lol. That’s what it sounds like to have multiple classifications.

@Nulli Secundus this is outstanding. I agree with this 100 percent. imagine in track, the top runners ran the 100 meters in 9-10 seconds. Now just imagine if they broke up the winners by how fast you ran. Meaning there is a 9-10 second champ. A 10.1-10.5 second champ, a 10.6-11.0 champ and so on. That’s how stupid 9 “state” champions sounds. We need one true state champion.
-
Love it. If you aren’t top 64 in the state then you shouldn’t be competing for any type of real championship anyways.

Amendment by member Ray passes!!!!
-
It will be 1 vs 512, 2 vs 511 and so on. So Chaminade will play the Florida School for the Deaf, and STA will play the Tampa School for the Blind
-
Ok here is how you settle everything on the field. 9 rounds to determine one true state champion. Here’s how it works. First everyone plays 5 regular season games. Just to warm up, get in rhythm, and gel for the playoffs. The top 512 teams make the playoffs. Round 1 - 512 teams Round 2 - 256 teams Round 3 - 128 teams Round 4 - 64 teams Round 5 - 32 teams Round 6 - 16 teams Round 7 - 8 teams Round 8 - 4 teams Round 9 - 2 teams for the 1 true State Championship. That means everyone gets 6 games minimum, and if you lose in the early rounds you can just schedule random games with other teams who were eliminated as well. Up to 4 more depending on what round you were eliminated in. can I get and Amen?
-
It’s the only true way to be state champion.
-
So rules have to be altered based on something STA has no control over. Sounds like they are being punished.
-
The argument you are making contradicts itself because the fact that there are so many other teams means STA would have to fight for and compete for talent with about 100 teams they are just more successful at it than others
-
Who has 1/7 of the population of us? Georgia has half the people we do. Georgia has about 100 less teams than we do so they should only have one or two less classes
-
Pennsylvania has 6 classes with the exact amount of teams as Florida Ohio has 7 classes with 200 MORE TEAMS than Florida!!! 9 classes is a watered down embarrassment
-
My system would have looked like this Enrollment 100-500 class 1A 501-900 class 2A 901-1,300 class 3A 1,301-1,800 class 4A 1,801 and above class 5A i don’t have all the enrollments in front of me but those numbers could slightly change based on the amount in each class. I would scale it to be around 100 teams per class
-
In my system, Lakeland, Venice, Columbus, Mandarin, Edgewater, Jones, Buchholz, Lake Mary, Seminole, St Thomas Aquinas, Homestead all would have been in the same class. Playoffs would have been epic.
-
Teams are being punished because the system is so watered down that the competition suffers. The top dogs are gonna win no matter the system, but 9 classes is an embarrassment. If it was 6 like it should be the same top teams will win, only the early playoffs games would be infinitely better. All the horrible teams would be gone by round 1. It’s pathetic that the state top 10 has teams from 7 or 8 classes. That is a travesty
-
But they are under the same rules. Columbia could attract talent from all over if the players were talented AND wanted to go there. Even the rural schools are close to each other relatively speaking. The issue is there isn’t a lot of talent up North. The South has talented oozing out everywhere. Talent literally all over the place. North Florida not so much. Kids that transfer to Chaminade or STA most likely come from the same proximity as kids who are the same distance to Lake City from Live Oak, Branford, Fort White, Alachua etc etc. Only difference is the kids going to Chaminade and STA are D1 studs and all those other places up North not so much. But that isn’t South Floridas fault
-
Hell I actually wouldn’t care how they did it as long as there was only 6 classes. Public/Private. Metro/Suburban. Animal mascots/human mascots wouldn’t matter to me one bit if there was only max 6 classes in the state
-
I would do enrollment simply because every public team has the same luxury of attracting talent. And for the people who say what about the public teams in the middle of nowhere that aren’t close to a lot of talent I would say sorry. Teams in areas with lots of talent shouldn’t be punished by playing in watered down brackets because you have no talent
-
No 10 classes for 500 teams would have been an abomination. The fact we have a rural class is embarrassing. Hawthorne and Madison County would have been favored over OTC and Mooney in my opinion. Florida needs 5 classes realistically with 6 being the absolute max. 6 classes with 500 teams is 83 per class. With 16 districts per class that’s 5.2 teams per district. Please tell me how that’s unreasonable????
-
Horrible. So South Florida supplies most of the teams and has to drive 7 hours to play.
-
The problem with this system is the finals are actually semi finals games. 9 classes was an embarrassment. Stop punishing South Florida for having more talent than the rest of the state. Every team operates under the same rules. You can attract talent just like anyone else. But it shouldn’t be South Florida’s fault their talent is better than North Florida. Because it sounds like the only way to stop the crying is to split the state into 3. North, Central and South. And each region only plays teams in their region. Because you won’t stop hearing the crying from North FL they can’t compete

Cardinal Mooney and Hawthorne are better than Miami Central, Norland, Edgewater, Seminole, Lake Mary, Venice and Mandarin. change my mind
