GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With seven weeks of the 2019 season already in the books, the FHSAA has released its first RPI rankings for football that will determine the playoff brackets coming up in just a few weeks.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like in early November, but remember things change, even with four weeks to go.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 5A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: This region is really interesting, to say the least, this year. Wakulla is the only undefeated team in the region. It is hard to really put a true pulse what the final regional playoff bracket might look like as a majority of these teams have been unpredictable this season. A lot to watch here.

QUICK THOUGHTS: Some of the districts are not shaping out the way we thought they would this season and that has provided some interesting parings here in this first release of the RPI rankings. Jones is the best team in the region. Dunnellon could be a team that moves into the No. 2 seed at some point. Citrus is a nice surprise this year so far.

QUICK THOUGHTS: It is very clear Rockledge and Lake Wales are the two best teams in this region and they could be headed for a collision course in meeting up in the playoffs. Jesuit looks to be a lock solid for their district championship, but the rest of the seeding appears to be up in the air at the moment.

QUICK THOUGHTS: The new District 5A-16 could likely get three teams in with Northwestern, Key West and Killian all doing well this season. However, I think seeds No. 3 through No. 8 are still very much fluid and a lot can change over the next few weeks as we get closer to the playoffs.
