GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With seven weeks of the 2019 season already in the books, the FHSAA has released its first RPI rankings for football that will determine the playoff brackets coming up in just a few weeks.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like in early November, but remember things change, even with four weeks to go.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 6A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
NOTE: Teams in RED have clinched their district championship

QUICK THOUGHTS: Things are going to be fluid in this district especially from seeds No. 3 to No. 8. I think Escambia and Columbia will be the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds overall, but where they land at on the bracket is anyone’s guessing game. Still quite a bit of football to be played here.

QUICK THOUGHTS: There is a lot still to learn about this region. Outside of Gaither, it is hard to gauge who is really a true contender to make a deep run in the playoffs. Is it Springstead? Is it Largo? It is hard telling who could be contending in the regional finals at this point based upon this situation because anything could happen.

QUICK THOUGHTS: No more three teams coming from District 6A-16… instead this region could and likely will be more dominated by the Southwest Florida area with District 6A-13 and District 6A-14 likely to have multiple teams in the regional bracket. A lot of district football to go, so expect this to change.
